So just 35,000 to go until I hit my goal for the year, lol honestly I really cannot see myself hitting it right now. Kinda hoping for a christmas miracle :-) anyway here is the updated stats, enjoy!

So close

Well I'm roughly around 1,500 points away from next milestone (65k), with this in mind I decided to pick up some easy point games while at work. I did say I wouldn't buy them anymore and just rent, but being this close I just want to get it out of the way. So I got the following..

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Ice Age 3

Also picked up Section 8 on the PC but I wouldn't say that's a game for achievements since I don't spend too much time on multiplayer unless my mates do.

So hopefully this week I will hit the next milestone and boost myself onto the next one, keep your eyes open for future posts this week about it.

Daily Update

Going to give up with the daily updates on achievements earned etc, mostly because over the last few day's I've earned easily 30+ achievements and to be honest it takes way to long to write it all out. Instead I could spend that time getting more achievements and trophies.

:-) Will of course I update when I hit big milestones

WOW Magazine

This morning I subscribed to the World of Warcraft magazine, so hopefully in the next several weeks the first issue will arrive. When it does come I will post my thoughts of it on here.

I'm a huge fan of Warcraft, pretty much collect everything to do with it (Comics, Novels, Trading cards, mini's and figures) so I got high expectations of this magazine which I know it probably will not meet (although it could shock us and be great).

But we will see, keep an eye out in the future for a review post on it

Daily Update

Lately when I've earned a trophy or achievement, I would post it on my twitter. Well I'm going to change that now since I think it might be annoying a lot of people who follow me. From now on I will post here on the night with a full list of achievement's that I've earned etc.

So for yesterday (sat 29th aug) I earned no achievement's lol, I'm at Lynn's for the weekend so no XBOX or PS3. But I do have my laptop so I can play WOW but it's not great (max 20/30 fps), news from WOW ... I did level one of my alts.

Katsuhito - Death Knight - Level 73

:-) that's it for yesterday

Star Wars The Force Unleashed

When they announced the Sith Edition, i was annoyed especially since I've already got the temple dlc as well. Few weeks back I did see a post about the hoth level not having achievements, great so don't have to go out and buy it just pay for the new dlc and that's it.

This week was the patch release for the PS3 trophies, so I rented the game from Lovefilm. While I was going through the list of trophies, look what I came across...

Official PETW MemberSilver Trophy
Make it through the Ice Caves without killing a single Wampa
PETW Hates YouSilver Trophy
Kill 10 Wampas in the Ice Caves
"I’m Not Your Father, But..."Gold Trophy
Take Luke to school

Great, going to hold off on the tatooine dlc and wait for the sith edition because I can see these being achievements as well. Lucasarts you need to get your act together and not screw us over again (especially when you pay 800points for a 20 minute level, what's up with that).

WOW Cataclysm

The rumours have been going on for a while now about a possible new expansion and the huge revamp to Azeroth. Of course like most people I did hold off my opinion until Blizzard announced something and now that they have...well what can i say...

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm really excited for these changes, from the images and trailer it looks awesome with what they done. I cannot wait...I'm like a kid in a candy store.

The two new races where a surprise to me but I am looking forward to playing both, more the Worgen then Goblins to be honest. The Worgen area/city looks amazing and the whole transforming between human and Worgen forms ... brilliant!. I am interested to see what their mount will be and dance lol. I was asked by my mate how would they fight, would they carry weapons or use their claws, I really do wonder (maybe something like druid cat/bear form where you cannot see the weapon). Not exactly too hyper with the Goblins but I do love their racial abilities and mount so I will be making one to play lol

I do hope they add some more character slots because I'm going to need them lol especially since the Dwarf shaman picture looks amazing and now I want that combo lol.

Also looking forward to seeing more of the new dungeons and I love the idea with the Icecrown airship fight. There really is too much that I like about this new expansion, think the next few months I will be hyper, dreading the launch lol

Only down part is now have to rush my Horde characters so I can see the old quest storyline before its all changed.

Think I will end the post now, that's enough random writing for one day. Hope it didn't confuse too much

P.S.
I hope they announce a collectors edition

Playstation 3

I've said this hundreds of times, I barely play my PS3 and the reason why?...wish I knew to be honest. I do play my PC (WOW) and Xbox more, there is no passion there for the PS3 (and Wii). Amount of problems I've had with online play is a joke, lack of good titles with trophy support etc just doesn't help one bit. Since I've joined Lovefilm I have started to use it more for blu-rays but last week there was a silver lining in my clouds.

Ghostbusters

It shocked me, it really did, I enjoyed the game to the point I could not put it down. Two days straight I played until the campaign was finished (including collections), I would be playing online with it but it's too bugged for me right now. When the patches do come out, I will be going out to buy a copy so I can play online with my mates.

Now of course since I sent it back to Love, I did wonder what will happen next, will something else keep me using the console or will it gather dust again.

Well it seems Star Wars is getting trophies finally :-D this thursday as well, so I will be hunting for a cheap copy to pick up. Might even finally buy the lastest DLC for Eye of Judgement to get the trophies on it. So good news for me in the end, my PS3 wasn't a waste of money after all and lets hope it stays this way.

Just hope Wii can prove it's worth now

Update

Once again sorry for the lack of updates but college is now over and I'm waiting for the results. Hopefully now I will have some spare time to post more often again and get back into the 360 challenge.

Anyway here is a current update with what's going on gaming wise.

Playstation 3
Ghostbuster's is good game so far but no spark to get me into the console, think it's going to take a miracle to do that (maybe God of War or Last Guardian). I did attempt the multiplayer for Ghostbuster's on wednesday night but all I kept getting was the "Failed to connect to game" error message.

Xbox 360
Finally finished the story of Army of Two yesterday, it was ok but nothing amazing. Going to attempt few of the achievement's but I do not see this being a game I will fully clock. Also working on Harry Potter and Star Wars, hoping to clock both in the next few weeks.

Wii
Nothing to report other than it's gathering dust lol might get Wii Sports Resort but worried it might be another game that will keep my interest for one week then end up on the shelf for year or two without being touched.

PC
Wow, Wow and WOW lol spending way too much time in this game, will do a post on what's been happening for my character's later.

So as you can see not much really to report about, hopefully over the next few weeks you sill see alot more activity. Anyway take care and see you next post

PS3

My PlayStation barely gets used these day's, the only time it's turned on is for blu-ray's. I've even got the infamous collector's edition still sealed sitting on my desk. For some reason I just don't have that spark to want to play on it like the Xbox or PC (same for Wii really). At the start of my old Collins UK challenge I did put I wanted to get at least one platinum trophy this year.

So to attempt this I have put a few PS3 games on my rental list, the rental list right now as only two high propriety games and they are Harry Potter and Terminator for the PS3. Unfortunately they still not in stock but I did get something good sent, Ghostbuster's is on the way so hopefully it will turn out to be a good game for me and push me to get a full complete on it.

Maybe over the next few week's you will be seeing some post's to do with the PS finally :)

Dynasty Warrior 6 Empires

I got a chance last night to have a good play of the game, seriously I'm really enjoying this newer version.

  • At the start you can pick a ruler or a officer, officer's explore the land and then join upto a ruler so that was a nice touch.
  • When invading/defending you no longer have to move your forces to the nearest country, they automatically can attack/defend any land.
  • Weapons no longer drop as loot, instead you can go to the forge and upgrade your current weapon (attack power, skills, effects etc) which is a blessing, I hated in the past having a ton of different weapons.
That's just what come's to mind, cannot forget how good the graphics are and gameplay etc. Finally the achievement list look's pretty good/easy so far, mostly complete a battle with one character. I would say a solid 8 out of 10

WOW - Multiboxing Part 2

The first night went well and got to level 10 before I even start the level 5 quests lol, but I got hit by some terrible lag and server disconnects. Found it later that the server I joined as huge population so on the peak times their can be problem's (I did notice on my travels other multiboxers so maybe that's why the population is so high). Anyway after like an hour I decided to give up on the server and joined another with a medium population.

So once again Kiyone and Mihoshi are reborn :) as of last night they where about level 17 and now heading to the ghostlands. Most of the quests are grey for me lol loving the triple experiences. Did try a dungeon last night but got wiped (Ragefire), but I will be trying again later on.

WOW - Multiboxing

The last few night's I've been watching Justin TV live and pre-recorded show's of multiboxing in WOW (http://www.justin.tv/multiboxing). It looks simple and very cool, so last night I decided to take the plunge and try it. The software is from pwnboxer.com and cost's $18.95 which is about £11.35 at the time, this is for a year's lience along with free updates. The software is updated pretty much weekly, in fact in the show the other night he mentioned he has another patch going up in a day or two.

In less then 10 minutes I was ready, using the refer a friend program I've set up a trail account and was happly playing two hunters. No joke it was amazing, it does take some time to setup if you new to macros etc but once you get into it you will not want to go back.

It's all legal too btw since all the software does is run two wow instances and just broadcast your keystrokes to the other instance, nothing done for you :) the programmer followed blizzard's words by the book.

Anyway this morning I had to pop down town for some stuff for college, so I picked up a copy of the WOW battlechest and now my second account is full retail with burning crusade. So right now I'm taking a break from my work and going to have a game at multiboxing. My first two characters are female blood elf hunter's, Kiyone and Mihoshi (wonder how many Tnechi fans read this blog, if anyone reads this blog that is lol).

So here they are, Kiyone on the right and Mihoshi on the left currently at level 2 :) got to love the triple experience thanks to refer-a-friend program.

I will be posting on their progress as well so keep an eye open

Update

I know I don't post much here but that's because I've got nothing really to report right now, too much college work mean's less gaming time. I will be playing more of Transformer's soon once my work is finished so I will post a update about it.

Going to be playing Dynasty Warrior's 6 Empires in my spare time, so once I've done a few fight's will post my thought's on it too (Achievement's look easy so hoping there will be a few good hard earned secret achievement's mixed in).

In WOW new's, thanks to the lovely midsummer event alot of my character's have leveled. The bonfire quests give out some large amount experience so today my mage went from level 38 to 40 and my warlock 30 to 31 along with 32 soon. Will be running all my alts through azeorth doing the bonfires for easy experience.

That's it for this random post

Friday's Huge Launch

This friday feel's like november with all the games that are coming out that I want, wish they would spread it out a little more since july/august are partly empty.

This friday:
- Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen - 360
- Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires - 360
- Another Code: R - Wii
- Overlord 2 - 360
- Monster Hunter Freedom Unite - PSP
- Tales of Vesperia - 360
- Valhalla Knights 2 - PSP

I've only ordered the first two since I really cannot afford all of them, I really hope Transformers turns out good because Another Code on the DS was in my top 10 favourite games.

Got doubt's on Overlord because the first one made me wonder what was going on (saving villagers from the good guys, I thought it should be the other way around), but I have heard you will be more evil this time around so we shall see.

Really looking forward to DW6E since the 5th one was the one that got me addicted into the series, just hope the gameplay is good and backed up with a decent achievement list.

Transformers as got alot against it, the film was awesome and the first game was ok not brilliant so I'm really expecting the 2nd to be a improvement.

Finally the other games are just random RPG's I'm interested in getting, might rent them first to see if they are worth getting/keeping.

In the time of no communication I did clock two more games for the challenge, they where Night at the Museum 2 and Terminator Salvation. Rental

I mentioned quite some time back that I joined the GAME rental service on their website, it's a nice service. Been using them since the start of the year and had no real problem's with them (8 out of 10 no problem). The only thing that is putting me off is new released games, it can take some time for them to be allowed to rent and when they are up for renting you can be waiting along time to get a copy (guessing they don't have too many copies of the new titles).

Anyway I'm going to give Lovefilm a try since I do want to start renting films too, they offer the same deals and prices as the game one. Also they do allow you to reserve new titles for rental (plus in my books) so kinda hoping they will have plenty of copies of each one. But we will see when the trail starts

Will post my thought's on Lovefilm once I've given them a try

It's Alive

Thought it was time I did a post, I've still got a ton of college work to do but I'm taking a break :-)

Well it's been over a month since my last post and not much as really happened with the achievement challenge. Actually that's a lie, I've clocked several games, hit a new milestone last night and made a bit of progress in other area's so things have been happening, just not as much as I would had liked.

Last night I took the night off since my project's where getting to me, instead I played Madagascar 2, Burnout Paradise and Trivia Pursuit which clocked my final 600 points needed to hit 60k. Long way off hitting my goal of 100k but I'm still happy about being at this marker. Hopefully when college finishes I will have some more spare time to clock some more games.

Anyway that's it for this post, sorry about the bad spellings/grammar etc never really been good in that area. Might do a few more post's in a bit (doubt it since always something comes up when I write that line). 65k here I come!!

Good Offer's

I thought I would make a post about some of the offers I've seen over the last week, that have caught my attention. There are three in total, but I have to say I've not looked around so you might find them better somewhere else.

First up is the Xbox 360 Wireless controller, normally priced around £32.99, now only £19.98 in the Game Sale. Not seen it that low before, but I could be wrong :)

Next up is the Wireless Adaptor for the Xbox 360. Again it's in the Game sale for £39.98, instead of £59.99. If anyone does find it cheaper then that please drop me a message.

Finally the last item is the new Xbox 360 Entertainment pack. For those of you that don't know it's usualy something you get when you buy a console bundle. (Shop's normally do not sell them separately). It can be a couple of games bundled together, sometimes with an extra pad included. Last time it was Kung Fu Panda, Indiana Jones Lego, and a wireless pad. The new one is a pretty sweet one. You get the following...
  • Wireless pad
  • Burnout Paradise the Ultimate Box
  • Trivial Pursuit
  • Connect 4 (arcade game).
I found out last week that my local Asda sold these pack's separately for £49.99, so if you need a extra pad, and was after Burnout then this is for you.

Well that's it for good offers, if I do see anymore I will post them, and if you find anything good please drop a message.

Finally hit the 2nd milestone in my challenge last week, quite happy about it but I should had got it week's ago ... oh well. On the same day I also finished off Assassin's Creed which I was pleased about. So overall not a bad week :) question is, what next to play

The achievement that pushed me over the marker...

Visions of the Future50
A strange vision has appeared to you. What could it mean?

Completed: Jumper

This morning I finally finished off Jumper and will be sending it back to the rental company later, I'm now standing on 54k which mean's I'm only 1k off the second milestone (should had hit that a month ago lol).

Jumper
Date Completed: 22/04/2009
Final Achievement:
Hard Target50
Play through the game without dying.

Right time for the good and bad points of this game, first off the good ... hmmm ... oh it only takes 2-4 hour's to complete and that's two playthrough's of the game lol.

Bad point's...bugs...bugs...bad story...bugs and guess what! bugs. I would list all the bug's but I would be wasting my time on a game that's not worth it, honestly the bug's are annoying but since the game only takes 2 hours to finish a playthrough it really is easy to bite your tongue and get on with it.

P.S. Here is some tips for those achievement collectors out there, first off save the Hard Target achievement to the second run through. You get all the weapon upgrades from your first game at the start meaning it's alot easier to take on the earlier bosses.

Second tip is to do with boss fights, when you do a series of attacks against them at the end you knock them down. Do not stand/attack them while they down, they instantly get up and get a perfect hit on you (with some bosses this can cause around 30-40% health loss) so run away when they go down and wait for them to get back up.

Long Time No See

It's been nearly a month since I posted, shocking ... really did not think it had been that long. Well sorry for the lack of updates but with college, work and everything else It's been a busy month. Expect several posts over the next hour or so to catch you all up with what's been happening.

360Voiceblog

I've noticed over the last few days that the stat's on this website are wrong for me.

On 360 Voice I've gotten the 5 completed games badge and yet I've done at least 17/18 (cannot remember lol), no badges for game genres either. When I checked out the badge calculator page which displays the stats for your profile it says I've only got 12k gamescore lol basically it only tracks the games you have loaded while you been apart of the site, it will list your actual gamescore but for badges and other stats it will only display what it has seen.

So to get the stat's right I've got to load past games up...right now I own at least 100 xbox games and alot of my completed ones where traded in when I was finished with them(might rent out my old ones when I run out of games to rent lol).

Going to start loading my games now and cannot wait to see the blog for today lol it will list everything I load.

Review: The Spiderwick Chronicles

Warning: Review does contain spoilers to the game

It's not a bad game, it's just the ending that hold's it back for me. Let me start from the beginning, there are 8 chapter's to this game and only 7 are the story while the 8th is just to finish off all the collections.

The story is really easy, run to point a, kill x amount bad guys, run to b, do action and run back to point c. Nothing hard and nothing too long, I would say around 4-6 hours maybe to finish the story, was not really tracking the time though.

The only problem with the story is the boss fight at the end which uses two mini games that are horrible, you have to move the analog sticks in opposite directions (up down, down up) as fast as you can while the boss chases you. One slip up (which happens alot since fingers getting tired/sore) and you taken back to the beginning, which means doing both games again (Easy way to get around this check out the tip section on my last point).

Why you put this in? it's bad enough doing it once but twice is taking it overboard and adding the startover if you fail was a stupid idea. This what held the game back from getting a higherscore.

Anyway enough with the ranting

The collections are very as well, just take time running around to get them. There are some bugs in the game but nothing too major to stop the game from being played. Graphics are ok, story is meh could be better but I don't expect much from a game based on a film that was based on a book. Overall I give it a 6.5 and would recommend it to anyone wanting achievement's. Just expect to spend some a few hours getting them

The Spiderwick Chronicles
Platform: Xbox 360
Score: 6.5/10
Status: Closed

P.S. I have listed some tips on this post on completing some of the achievement's easier

Salt + Tomato Sauce + Vinegar + Oatmeal = Anti-Goblin Potion

Well I finally picked Spiderwick Chronicles again yesterday and just finished it :), because I've already done it on my other profile it went alot faster with the boss battle and collecting since I knew how things worked this time.

The Spiderwick Chronicles
Date Completed: 25/03/2009
Final Achievement:
ISL Champion100
Score 100 points in a "Sprites and Goblins" ISL Arena match without taking damage.

Anyone wanting to get the thousand points here is a few tips for you.

Multiplayer Achievements
Either get a friend/family member to help (one who as patience) or setup a second pad with a player and charge wire (So does not disconnect).

1. Both choose who ever and set the game settings to Tunnels Map / Sprite Collection Only / 5 Minutes. Both players need to get 50 points which are given by catching the sprites, this can be done with 2-3 minutes spare. Once finished you should get the first achievement

2 Front Yard Night Time / Sprite Collection Only / 25 Points

3. Forest Meadow / Sprite Collection Only / 25 points

4. Both choose Simon as the player, game settings should be Front Garden Day / Sprites and Goblins / 100 Points. This is the hardest achievement since you need to get 100 points without taking damage. This is what I did on both profiles to get this achievement..

- Both run behind the mushroom ring, goblins cannot cross it
- Both move to the far left of the map still behind the ring
- Have player two stand on the ring limit to attarct the goblins to him (this is why you need someone patience because they need to stand there and do nothing lol)
- Player one stand right at the back then hold a to pump the water gun for its super blast, hold a down then wait for the goblins to be near the ring then let go. It releases a huge blast which can take them out with two hits, the blast lasts for second or two which normally hits them twice anyway.
- Green goblins give one point so need to kill 99, just keep doing the above and they will respawn
- There are red goblins who give two points and blue ones that give 5 points problem is blue can throw rocks that can get through the ring. Luckly they static spawn on the far right of map and since you are on the far left they do not come for you :-D
- Stay away from the edge of the ring since you can take damage from lunges

If you did right you will get the 100 point no damage achievement and all multiplayer maps.

Single Player
xbox360achievements.org is a great help but I also found this walkthrough to be alot better (some of the sprite collection locations on x360a.org to be wrong).

Print a copy of the locations all the sprites off and tick them as you get them, normally the guides say do not collect any to the end but you will find collecting some them will boost your health meter etc. which helps alot later on.

When painting the sprites do a zig zag up/down on the screen with gaps between each stroke, the ink runs and will fill in the gaps so you can finish quickly before the timer run's out.

Boss Fight

***SPOILER ALERT*****

This is the most annoying quicktime event I've ever done so far, basically you start in the hall way and need to run towards the camera into the kitchen while the boss chases you. When in the kitchen you just run across until you reach the dumbwaiter, then go up into the study. In the studey you dodge a few goblins, jump over a bookcase then through the window. Climb the roof then the ladder, that's it all done...sounds simple ? it can be if you know what expect.

- If you get caught you got to start from the beginning, even if you where 90% done with the event
- When you enter the kitchen the camera angle changes and for some reason even through your holding down your character moves up and runs into the boss. Instant death
- To move the dumbwaiter up you need to move the analog sticks in the opposite directions (up down, down up) as fast you can, makes it easy for your fingers to slip and tire. Problem is one slip up and he catches you, start over and have to do this all again.
- Study is not hard just need to remember not to fight the goblins and run against the bookcase to climb over it.
- The roof you need to climb and guess what, analog up down trick again... doing this minigame twice is bad enough on your fingers but if you die you got to do it all again.

Here is my tip for this mini game, grab a pillow and put it on your lap. Place the controllers on it then use the palm of your hands on each analog stick. I know it sounds weird but the pillow will keep the controllers in place and you wont have sore fingers by the end of the game.

***End Spoiler****

Hope this helps you :)

Review: Lost Odyssey

When I first opened this game I felt bit overwhelmed, finding four discs for the game will make you wonder what you getting yourself into. Couple of weeks ago I decided to give it a shot and try to complete this huge game, at first it looked complicated with all the different stats/systems that you can use but after a while you get the hang of it quite quickly as progress through.

Graphics are amazing but you expect that from Square Enix and the story is good but does get a slow start. So far I've only done about 4-5 hours which really does not even dent the first disc lol so expect to lose alot of time to this game.

So good points, combat is turned based and the ring system is a good idea. Basically rings give you extra bonuses to attacks like +fire damage/wind etc. but to get the bonus you do a minigame. When the character attacks you hold down RT, a small ring appears around the opponent as you charge while a second ring comes from off screen getting smaller each second. When they overlap you let go, closer they match the better the bonus and of course if you fail it does not effect your normal damage so penalty if you do. Found this to be a good little feature.

Skill learning was another that got me as good, immortal character's do not learn new skills as they level up instead they learn skills from mortal character's. You select who they should learn off and as you battle you gain points to learn, you can also learn skill's from items too which was a nice touch.

If you are after achievement's for this game I would recommend going to 360achievements.org and checking out the information their. They have a detailed list of spells, skills, dreams and treasure locations so print them off so you can tick them off as you progress through.

So anyway I really cannot say too much about this game since I'm not that far into it but I will come back and update if there any changes, but with the good graphics, nice story and good gameplay I would give it a 8 out of 10.

50,000

Well I've finally did it :) 50,000 was just hit five minutes ago thanks to Bionicle Heroes, it's took a few days to get those last 600 points but it was worth it. It's only just hit me how hard this challenge is going to be since this is the first milestone lol, that 100k seems along way off but it will be fun trying.

Weekend

Cannot believe how fast the week's fly by lately, anyway not much to report this weekend since no consoles about (well do have the handheld's but no passion to play them right now).

I did pick up a few more games for the 360, first up is Resident Evil 5. I wasn't going to get it at first since I'm not a fan of horror but after watching a few minutes of it on friday I thought I would give it a shot. Should be playing it monday and might write up a review for it later on if turn's out any good. Second up Hawx, again another type of game I would never really play but I tried the demo last week and really did enjoy. Did not seem too hard to play and yet somehow I ended up in the river, wish I knew how.

Finally the last two games I picked up was Paintball and Secret Service, mostly picked them up for the achievement points. I doubt I will get the 1,000 for paintball since I cannot see myself doing the multiplayer but still worth a good couple hundred. Secret Service does look ok, reminds me of Eat Lead so really looking forward to playing it (Btw I will be reviewing Eat Lead sometime this weekend).

Well anyway that's it for this post, I will be posting up several review's sometime this weekend hopefully (Lost Odyssey, Eat Lead, Empire Total War and The Maw) so keep checking back.

Review: Eat Lead

I got this game for the sake of achievement's since the list looked easy, but it turned out to be a good game after all. It's a simple generic shooting game

Update

Still in shock with the fact I've finished both Samurai Warriors 2 and Empires, really did not think I would ever complete them lol. Anyway while I was working on these I finally started a japanese RPG, picked Lost Odyssey and I'm loving it so far, I will post a review about it when I get bit futher into the game. Start of the year I promised myself I would complete at least one RPG since I got so many that I never even given a start too.

Oh yeah! The next two rental games arrived this morning, Bee Movie and Lego Bionicle Heroes. Time consuming but easy 1,000's, well I thought they where until I looked into the lists. Bee Movie as me worried that it could turn out like Bolt/Space Chimps and end up on the pile to never be touched again (Bolt is not on that list...yet). Guess we will see later

Anyway time to get back to it, been sick with the flu the last few days so I'm spending the time just playing games lol :) it's a good cure.

What a week!

I did it!!! Woot!!!

Just finished Samurai Warriors 2 along with it's downloadable content Xtreme Legends, it's taken 32 hours just to get the last 6-10 achievement's but it was worth it. Last night I went all out and got the last five rare swords and did 50 stages of merc mode to finish off the xl achievements then this morning I've been playing Sugoroku mode in the hope to get lucky enough to win, second game and I won by chance :-D So now standing on 18 games finished and this is the first that's above the 1k mark.

Week Two Report

Well another week as gone and I would love to know where the time went. This week started really good with games completed and two more games having their campaigns completed, really happy with myself. Also on thursday I've started a japanese rpg "Lost Odyssey" so looking forward to having some fun with that this week.

Oh yeah need to give a big thanks to Matt for helping me last night with Gears 2 Horde mode, finally finished the missing 20 levels so clocked two more achievement's worth 50g. Need to do that more often since it was alot of fun, espically when it was just me left against several boomer's lol ran out of bullets and went charging in with chainsaw (didn't even get close).

Halo Wars Review

I had my worries with this game from day one, I enjoy Halo but I was not that impressed with the last one in the series. I am big fan of the novels and the background story, any game with a good story can make me a fan. So anyway with the demo released a few weeks back my worries got worse, I had friends telling me it was rubbish. Well those worries where for nothing...

I am impressed, it came out amazing!!

The story kept me interested, graphics where very good and the cgi cutscene's blew me away (I hope this is what we expecting for Halo ODST). The gameplay itself is very good, at first I was worried with the lack of base building (what's with RTS lately, they all seem to ditch base building) but you realise after a match or two why that's a good thing, there's so much going on you dont have time to guard a ton of buildings...one is hard enough.

For the score I would say a 9, and that's just barely got it. Only reason it got that is I can see myself playing the skirmish games/multiplayer with friends for fun so it does keep you coming back. Reason it failed to get a 10 is the game did not make me want to keep playing none stop and that's what is needed to get a 10 in my books.

Anyway overall I loved it and would recommend it to friends, it's another one to add to the list for game of the year. Well done!

Evening Update

Wow...just wow, yesterday I finished sw2e getting the full 1,000 gamerscore for it then decided to do some Dawn of War 2. This morning I finished the story campaign for it and I've got to say I did enjoy it but man the bugs are annoying.

Now here is the wow...just finished the Halo Wars campaign :) so two stories finished with one game clocked, in just under two days, now that is progress.

Going to make this short since I want to write out some reviews

First Completition

Well I finally did it :) I've clocked Samurai Warriors 2 Empires yesterday, that had to be one of the hardest achievements I've done in my time.

Samurai Warriors 2 Empires - 950/1,000 (800/1,000) 80% - 95%

Not a bad start to the week but still wish I had got that final achievement in SW2E, going to try it again this week since I found some more tips on how to do it. Hoping to finish CSI this week and maybe if I got the time clock space chimps to but will see.

CSI Review

This as to be the second easiest achievement game so far after Avatar, all you do is complete the game and that's it. You visit the crime scene, gather evidence simply by looking around and using several tools. Do lab tests, speak to suspects and that's it...nothing challenging. I like these type of click and collect games and the story is good, I was getting into it and enjoying finding out who did what.

It also as some nice features to help like tagging which will highlight evidence that's full been investaged so you know if you have finished or not. It can also tag crime scenes so you know you found everything there or not, comes in handy if you not so good or in a rush to get through the game.

Overall it's a good game, not amazing just good and for the achievements I would recommend it to anyone who wants to boost their score.

Update

Monday I started working on some achievements, so far spent most of my time on Samurai Warriors 2 Empires. I finished 3 out of the 4 achievements I'm missing to get a full 1,000, still stuck on that osaka stage but I found some info that might help. Might try it later but really do not want to lose any more hours right now so might try tomorrow/next week.

Last night I started my new rental game CSI, no joke I enjoyed this game so I will be reviewing it later with my full thoughts on it.

Other then that thought I've started Dawn of War 2 on this profile and that's it for the week, so only around 400-500 increase which isn't too bad.

Help Please

I'm trying to get the last achievement in Samurai Warriors 2 Empires and after 10 hours still no luck, it the osaka campaign special. I move Yukimura into the Toyotomi clan then play as that clan, I ally myself with the Tokugawa. I've let them expand over the map and failed, tried only letting them have four area's and failed. Even played as them and half way through Toyotomi get rid of Yuki.

All of the times making sure the Toyotomi only have the first start areas.

I just don't know what I'm doing wrong

New Challenge

Well it was a fun month but now I'm back on Iznic, I will admit it's good to be back :)

So my challenge is pretty much going to be what I thought of first before the Collins UK and that's go for 100k gamerscore. It will be a hard challenge but I'm up for it, I'm doing it for fun in the end so even if I do fail it will not matter.

Blog Change

Well I've changed the links so they now show my original profile, I have left the collins uk gamertag up at the bottom (something to remember the challenge from). All the posts to do with the challenge are now listed under Collins Uk Challenge since I'm starting a new one with this profile.

Will post in a bit about the new challenge

Now What

At first I thought that I've wasted the start of this year when I could had used to play games I liked and worked on points for my other profile but now that I think about it, if I knew at the start that it would end I would still do this challenge. It's been fun and amazing, some of my old games I've not played in years and playing again made me realise what I'm messing out on.

So what am I going to do now? start another challenge of course :-D I don't stay down

I'm going back to my original profile Iznic, pick up where I left off and go for a 100k! This blog will stay up, just change the link's to my other profile but I will leave the link up to collins uk to remind me what a good time I had with that challenge. Going to have to change my rental list quickly so they don't send any games I've already completed...oh no, I got to redo spiderwick again >.<
Challenge 2009 - Start fresh
Started: 29th January 2009
Ended: 23rd February 2009
Score: 7,726
100% Retail Games: 6
100% Arcade: 0

Oh Well

When I first thought of this challenge I wanted to makesure it was possible, I checked a few arcade games and found they worked on a new profile. For DLC I tested the nearest game which was Samurai Warriors 2 and yes the Xtreme Legends worked. I've just checked the rest of my games and none of the other DLC works, so here is the list that do not work and the cost to rebuy.

Oblivion - 4,480
Perfect Dark - 500
Ghost Recon - 600
Ghost Recon 2 - 800
Halo 3 - 600
Kameo - 400
Lost Odyssey - 600
Marvel Ultimate Alliance - 800
Mass Effect - 400
Gears of War 2 - 1,200

That's not all of them but after checking those few I gave up, anyway that total comes to 10,380! which is around x5 2,100 cards. So that would cost me around £85 ... yeah I think it's safe to say the challenge is over.

Is this the end?

Earlier on I started Mass Effect and to my horror the DLC will not work, so it does look like it's tied to profile not console. The reason I thought otherwise was because some of the arcade games are linked to the console not your profile, so you can play them on any profile.

So I need to check out my other DLC to see if they don't work, if they don't then could cost quite alot to redo. I know I've been getting old games that I've traded in the past but I am using a rental service which so far I've had 6-8 games for only £15, so it's costing me nothing really where's having to replace content for oblivion, mass effect, sam warriors, marvel, gow etc would be insane.

If it is too high then the challenge is over

Mass Effect 2

Cannot believe they already releasing data on the sequel, I loved Mass Effect...in fact it was my game of the year for 2007. After reading the news post on achievement.org I cannot wait, I love the idea that the choices you made in Mass Effect will effect what happens in 2. Might have to do several play through on the first one with different character's alive and dead so I can see all the endings on 2 lol.

If that wasn't enough they now mentioned another DLC for the first one as well :-D happy days! really need to crack open the first one again and work on it ready.

Finally to make things even better they released a teaser trailer..link

It's all too much, they got me too hyped up now lol

Weekly Challenge Report

I'm going to start posting at the end of the week to talk about how I think the challenge is going as well as any thoughts about the future of it.

Last week started off great with spiderwick and narnia finished along with a milestone hit, rest of the week flopped thanks to college work and online gaming. But it's not a problem because the rubbish games where getting to me and I needed a break, I realise now playing that many in a row will put you off gaming for a while if you not careful. I did end the week well thanks to avatar so it means around 3k gamerscore added at least, 3 games completed and 1 milestone for a week's worth. Don't think I can top that any time soon.

Future
I would like to say I will meet the next milestone this week but college is piling it on so not sure, but I am going to start some better games this week. Want to crack open Mass Effect at least and maybe Enchanted Arms, COD2, Dynasty Warriors etc, I know it would mean a ton of games to work on but it would be nice to have some decent to work on.

That's it for this week report, not much sorry but not that much to talk about really.

Time Hollow

Ok let me explain a bit of the history behind this game, about year/2 years ago I saw this game listed in a nintendo magazine. It was reviewing some of the new japanese games and this looked good, problem was no date for when/if it would come out in the west. In the end I gave up waiting, so you can imagine I was shocked to see it on the store shelf a week ago.

Now back to the present, I picked it up friday finally and decided to give it ago. I was shocked, really shocked...it's amazing. At first I was going to give it a 8 out of 10 but after spending the entire weekend playing it and finishing it last night I'm not settled on a full 10 out of 10.

The story was good, as you get closer to the truth the more you want to know. Graphic's are nicely done (I am big fan of anime so it went well with me). The game was split up with anime cutscenes for the important parts which was a nice touch and a opening theme, voice acting for the scenes was very well done. Gameplay is good as well, not too hard which was a nice change but of course this as lead to critics moaning it's too easy etc.

So overall I loved the game and it's now added to my permanent collection, no regrets :) just hope they make a sequel

LMAO

Well I checked the rental list yesterday to see what they where sending me to replace narnia, I've been worried since they only send the easy yet time consuming games. But not this time! they had sent the first game on my list, avatar LOL :) it arrived 10 minutes ago and is already back in it's packaging ready to be sent back. Quickest 1,000 I will ever get

Final Achievement:

That now bring's me up to 7,100 gamerscore along with six retail games finished, been a great week :)

Dawn of War II

Well I'm finally playing it and I admit it is amazing but they took quite a bit out though.

Basically the single player campaign is great, the army you work with is now more personal, the squads have leaders with names and backgrounds. You level them up which give you point's to spend on health/damage/energy etc, also you can pick up wargear (better damage, defense etc) through the battle's which helps alot. You also orbit above the planet and allowed to pick locations to deploy at giving that nice sense of choice.

Yet there is a but!, no base building, it seems to been taken out completely so far. So I tried a private match of 3v3 to see if it was just the single player, when it loaded there was the HQ but I found that seems to be it.

It allows two upgrades which allows for more different squads and a few tanks but that's it. They seem to have taken quite a bit out which disappoints me really since I did like having bases in the first one, made it alot harder for the enemy to wipe you when you had a secret second base and vice versa. The game seems to focus alot more on the squad fighting now because even the vehicles have taken a blow and now alot less compared to Soulstorm.

Overall though graphics are great, gameplay is sweet and it's amazing so far. So I would give it a 8.5 and will leave it open (Open means basically that I can come back to it later and change the score, I've touched the beginning of this game. There could be stuff I don't know about later that could make this game even the more sweeter or worse).

Wow

I just went onto Game's website to find some information that I wanted to post here, to my shock on the front page is the new's about pre-ordering the new DSI. It's only just got updated since I was on the site earlier but I'm really shocked how close the release date is, 3rd April. Was really hoping july time or later so had time to save up some money since of all the games coming out in the next month.

I do not use my DS much these days but that is because of my 360, I'm so addicted to achievement I do not give time for anything else lol. In fact my wii and ps3 are covered in dust, really need to start dedicating a few hours a week to some of them, have a change.

Anyway back to the DSI, looking forward to it, really looking forward to see what types of games they will bring out that will include the camera functions. This afternoon in fact I'm going to cinema with Lynn so while I'm up there I will pop into work and see If they taking pre-order's there.

Last Night's Gaming Update

Pretty much spent nearly all of yesterday playing MMO's, I did start Space Chimps on the 360 in the morning (new rental game) but only did the first two levels. Think I needed a break really from the challenge which in the end turned out great because it meant my online characters got some time.

I did boost up two ranks in Warhammer since I spent several hours doing public quests, even solo'd one (was easy setting but still shocked me that I could since I suck lol). Really starting to get into game but still holding my judgement until I get bit higher up, in fact I'm now at where I quit the last time so this will be interesting.

On WOW I loaded up my Death knight and spend most of the night hunting in Nagrand, really enjoyed it to be fair and got over 400k exp for my efforts. Thanks to all the questing he also leveled up to 68 meaning he can now go to Northend, Woot!.

So overall was a good night

P.S. I was impressed with myself with the fact I did 400k in a few hours since normally that amount takes several days for me lol.

Torment!

Dawn of War II arrived this morning, I was like a kid at christmas...until I found out steam activiation will not work until tomorrow morning. It's now sitting on my desk in front of me, tormenting me. The only reason I ordered of the website instead of getting while I was at work was the early day head start.

*sigh* Knew it was too good to be true

Tempted to stay up to midnight and try it then or getting up super early in the morning to play it, will post later with what I decide on.

Warhammer

Had a blast last night with Warhammer Online, got my Black Guard upto level 8 while doing a public quest with a group of new friends I've met. Think it took us three attempts to finally finish the quest..

- First attempted we ran out of time, was learning the ropes
- Second attempt would had done it but the second final boss was bugged and vanished

I was not expecting to find my second attempt at this game to be enjoying, I joined when it first was launched but both of the career's I wanted where ditched (Black Guard and Slayer). So I had to pick Witch elf, now don't get me wrong I liked it but there was no....spark..nothing to really make me want to play. I love the tome of knowledge, the story details are wonderful as well but I just gave up after a few weeks.

When they announced Black Guard's where being put in I was tempted to go back but I waited, finally decided few weeks ago to give it another try. Best bit was they announced the day after they would be adding slayers! :)

But yes I am enjoying Black Guard and I really enjoy playing this game, hopefully it will stay like that as I progress through the teirs and not turn boring halfway through.

Bolt

My plan to have Bolt finished by friday might not work out, why? will power is the answer

I just really do not want to play it lol I was expecting something better then this, not amazing but better (like meet the robinsons).

Kill x number of bad guys, do puzzle 1, kill x number of bad guys do puzzle 1.2 (pretty much the same puzzle just father to travel), kill more bad guys and do same puzzle again!

I'm only on level 3 and already ready wishing it would end, I really have not got the will power to sit through this for several hours straight. I might try again later but I would not hold my breath

Another Achievement

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Date Finished: 17/02/2009
Final Achievement:

Treasure Meister100
Open ALL bonus chests in single or co-op play.

Well I got early this morning so I could finish this off, I had to pop into college so wanted to post it back while I was down there. Really happy with the fact I've completed two games and hit a milestone this week and it's only the second day lol.

Anyway even though it's going well I'm going to take a break today, I've got college work to do and might have to pop back down again and I want to play some games for fun (if i clock some achievements then that's just a bonus). Going to try and clock Bolt tomorrow or least by friday so I can trade it in for Dawn of War II, cannot wait to play that game.

I will be posting more later with updates on what I've been doing and what I'm planning on doing but for now I need to focus on my college work.

2nd Milestone

Just hit my second milestone, 5,000 gamerscore :)

Caspian's Retribution20
Seek vengeance from 200 Telmarine soldiers.

I was just finishing off a level in narnia when I clocked the above achievement without trying, caught me by surprised since I was expecting to get this achievement until the end of the game.
Anyway so another milestone done and a game clocked in the same day, I'm happy with the results.

Achievement!

I've just clocked Spiderwick Chronicles about 30 minutes ago :) bringing my total up to four retail games 100% completed.

It's an ok game and I did enjoy it up until the boss fight at the end (mostly because of bad camera angles getting you killed and horrible controls for climbing). I was going to write out a full review of the fight and why I hated it but my hands are still aching from it so I'm not wasting my time.

The Spiderwick Chronicles
Date Finished: 16/02/2009
Final Achievement:

ISL Champion100
Score 100 points in a "Sprites and Goblins" ISL Arena match without taking damage.

It's done

Just finished Meet the Robinsons, it was a such a happy moment when I sealed the disc in its envelope to be sent back. Don't get me wrong I love the movie and I enjoyed the platform game, but having to go through it all again for those last two achievements was too much. If you are looking for easy achievement games then add this to your list, it will take a few hours since you got some collecting to do but can all be done in one playthrough (6-10 hours at a guess).

Meet the Robinsons - 1,000/1,000
Date Finished: 12/02/2009
Final Achievement:

Found All Charge Ball Courts50
All Charge Ball VR Disks Collected

So now on a grand total of three retail games fully finished and a nice 3,771 gamerscore

Not again....

Just finished meet the robinson and to my horror I'm missing two achievements, I missed a collectable item from near the start of the game. What's worse I cannot go back, need to start again and collect all the disks in the same playthrough so I cannot just play to that level.

First potter now this, I'm starting to wonder if this will happen often

Update

At home for today and maybe tomorrow while I've got to touch up two assignments, so I will be doing some gaming when I take a break in between.

I've hit a snag in my challenge...all morning I've been looking at my 360 collection and I'm so tempted just to crack open some of the games and start them. But if I do that I know most will not get finished for a while, meaning I've got ton of uncomplete's again like on my old profile.

Thing is the games that are tempting me are my old favourites, Mass effect (love this rpg), Marvel Ultimate Alliance (no.2 is soon and i want to go through this again in time for it), Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors (love this series), Gun (great game), the Lego series, COD series, star wars force unleashed and so on.

Along with several new ones that I've picked up, so now I really don't know what to do.

Online Gaming

The next few days/weeks will give me less time for console gaming, it's Valentines day Saturday so of course I'm treating Lynn to several nights out but also my online games have special events to celebrate the holiday. Warhammer is doing the night of murder event which as started, star wars galaxies starts day with their ewok holiday and world of warcraft starts tomorrow with love is in the air. Not only that but today is the last day for the lunar festival in wow so I need to finish off the last few achievements that I can get (not level 80 so cannot get them all, bit annoyed about that).

So more time playing online then working on the challenge lol of course I will make some time, I do want to get Meet the Robinson out of the way and start Lego Indiana Jones.

Complete at last

It's done, I've finally hit 1,000/1,000 for Harry Potter...this had to be the worse play through of the game so far. I had so many glitches/bugs/problems it was unbelievable (several times I found myself reloading the save file to get something to work), worse being to get the last discovery level you need to explore every room. Of course one room is locked and only open when you complete the game.

Anyway it's done and over with, hopefully all this will be corrected for when they bring out the half blood prince (still looking forward to the sequel).

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - 1,000/1,000
Date Finished: 10/02/2009
Final Achievement:

Complete discovery level 13.50
Discover enough to complete discovery level 13.

That brings me upto 2 retail games completed, not a bad start to the challenge. Going to work on Meet the Robinsons next.

Weekend Update

Long time no write

It's the weekend again, and this means I'm at work most of the time and the rest spending with Lynn (girlfriend). I should be back home later tonight so I will be attempting to get some achievements, thinking of starting Harry Potter again to finish off the last 100 points.

On friday I started Civilization since I want a nice break with a game I like, been trying out the free map packs and they great for getting some achievements on. Hopefully can get a small chunk done this week when I got some free time in the evenings.

Finally this week I want to finish Harry Potter and hopefully get all of Meet the Robinson done, its a great platform game (one of my favourites) but with several games coming out the end of the month that I want (Dawn of War 2, Killzone, Halo Wars, Bolt etc.), I need to get a few of the lesser games out of the way if I want the time for them.

Anyway I need to go, going to go play on Warhammer online for a bit

Magical Error

I'm now standing on 900/1,000 for Harry Potter, but I now find myself stuck on some of the mini-games/quests. After checking out the net I found out because I'm playing hard it changes the settings to have timers etc meaning it's down right difficult to finish them, should be done on easy. Of course this means I'm not able to get the points meaning I cannot get the last discovery level achievement lol...

So need to do a run through on the easiest difficulty but doing all the exploring again. What i should had done was played through 100% on easy then just the story on hard to get the hard achievement, like I did on the first time with my other profile *sigh*. Not too bad i guess, I don't mind doing it all again but I was hoping to finish this game today and get another 100% retail this week.

Oh well...off to make a cuppa, might take a break and play WOW or Civi

P.S. Thanks to the snow, had four days off lol it's been great but going to hate the catch up work at college next week.

Finally

It's done, Hitman Blood Money 1,000 gamer points ... longest day of my life lol finished expert and professional difficulties along with x5 silent assassin ratings on both. Believe it or not i got the silent assassin ratings during the play through it was the last two missions on professional that held me up. So glad it's over now and I can just do repeats for fun now :) don't get me wrong I enjoyed playing it again but I hate the harder difficulty.

Anyway I've done my goal, Hitman is my first 1,000 and I can now start working on other games.

Hitman Blood Money - 1,000/1,000
Date Finished: 3/02/2009
Final Achievement:

Professional mode complete150
Completed Professional difficulty

First Mile Stone

Thanks today's snow day, college was cancelled so I've spent the day playing games and relaxing (lucky for me tomorrow as also been cancelled too). I've made some serious progress on Hitman and did a mini game of monopoly, thanks to this I've hit the first mile stone.... 1,000 gs lol.

The last achievement that got me this milestone was ...

5 Normal Silent Assassins25
5 Silent Assassin ratings awarded on the Normal difficulty

So not a bad day, got my first milestone and almost finished Hitman (just need to complete expert and professional with both x5 silent kills). Hopefully all goes well can get all that done by tomorrow.
