Three games down and many more to go

Two posts in one day? Shocking I know!

Hello again readers I thought it was about time I actually did a general update instead of just news or unboxing posts. So I kind a caved this year and my back log of games has been growing quite quickly. Way too many new releases and sales been happening, plus you know what I’m like for buying new games. Also did not help I still have a few games from last year still play as well.

So the last two weeks I have been trying to put more time into getting some of these games clocked and its going well. I finished Lego Batman 3 on the Xbox 360 first along with all its expansions, picked this up last in the Black Friday sales and never got around to working on it. It’s one of my top five Lego games and would recommend playing it, it’s even the game that got me into the Lantern Corp and the reason why I picked up a Green Lantern graphics novel.

Same week I also completed Agatha Christie ABC Murders on the PS4, new release that has just come out. Got say I was bit disappointed with this game since it was really short, would say maybe two evenings or a day to complete it. The puzzles are not too hard and to be honest the story wasn’t that great. I like my puzzle investigating games and I probably will play it again to earn some achievements but I will not be running out to get it any time soon.

Not a bad for a week’s work to be honest, after that I did a take few days off and play some new releases but nothing with a 100% focus. I want to give full focus to games in my collection that once I’ve played I probably will trade-in. With so many new releases over the next few months, credit is always a help right now to pay for them.

This week I started Adventure Time Jake and Finns Investigations on the Xbox One. Few work colleagues had recommended me the show so when I saw this on sale for a good price earlier on the year I picked it up. It’s been sitting there for a while so I thought it was about time I give it a try and if I did not like it then it can be traded in.  Well I was quite shocked how much I did enjoy it to be honest, the game is a like Agatha Christie or Sherlock Holmes where you investigate the area to find clues and solve puzzles to progress through the story. Story is weird but funny and I enjoyed every minute of it and could not put it down, it’s got me interesting into watching the cartoon as well now. I would have no problem playing this again on a different console to earn some more trophies/achievements.

Well that’s it folks for what I’ve been playing and completing, what’s next to play? well I’ve got a few games on the go at the moment. Nothing serious just yet but once I’ve got something solid I will do another blog post.

Think that’s it for this blog post and I really should go enjoy my day off with some good games. Need to keep completing some games since there’s quite a few new ones out this month. Expect a post about that soon, until then don’t forget to comment with what you been working on.
Until then have a good one folks,
~Iznic

P.S. Yes I did clock Minecraft Xbox 360 in between but I was only missing one glitched achievement so it wasn't like I did a full massive session to finish it off. Still another 100% though so that was a win.

New Week

Morning gamers,
So I did pick up Destiny in the end and I have to say no regrets with that decision what so ever. I will not say its amazing and game of the century but it is a really good game. Good solid eight out of ten in my books, what is letting it down is the story campaign which is boring. What makes up for it is the graphics and amazing game play with friends, this is where the game shines. Playing with your friends and the time will just fly by and next thing you know you have spent six hours in the game, forgot tea and got some amazing boss fight stories for your troubles.

I also did pick up Minecraft at the same time on both consoles, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 which came out just a few days before Destiny. Love them to bits or though I am putting more time into the Xbox One version since I have a friends on there up for playing so we have a community world built.

So as you can tell I've got plenty to play with right now and let's not forgot I got Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition for the PlayStation 4 sitting next to my TV. I have decided that I need to use the next few weeks to try and clock a game. My next new release is not until October 3rd which of course is Middle Earth Shadows of Mordor. Really looking forward to getting my hands on that game and from the looks of things I will have the whole of October to play it since most of my new releases got pushed back to November.

My plans until this game comes out is to try and finish the story campaign for Diablo, of course also put some time into Destiny and Minecraft. I also have the Lego Movie game for the Xbox 360 on rental so I could do with working on that and clocking it so I can send it back. Think that's a good game plan to start with this week, it's been a long while since I've clocked a game so I better set off and get started.

Have a good one folks and I will catch up with you again in the week

Holiday Fun

Morning folks,
It's been a few days since I got back off my holiday and just settling back down again. I thought since I've got the day off today it would be good to get another blog post up before I started any gaming.

Awesome start to the day with the announcement of Minecraft for the Xbox One coming out this Friday! that woke up me quite quickly when I checked the news this morning in bed. No doubt in my mind that we will see the PlayStation 4 any day now along with the Vita version as well. Will have to dedicate some time this weekend into making some awesome worlds, really cannot wait to get back into it since I've been holding off building anything lately.

I know you can transfer the worlds over from the old consoles but I wanted a fresh slate and start a new. Good news though is any DLC packs bought will be transferable, picked up several packs early on the year when they was on sale so that's a bonus. Also the price is awesome since if you own it already you get a discount. This was posted up earlier on twitter...

"Minecraft: Xbox One Edition is £3.99 / €4.99 if you own the Xbox 360 Edition, and £15.99 / €19.99 if you don't. Out Friday!"

£3.99?! bargain! just hope the same happens with the PlayStation 4 version when they announce the date.

Anyway enough about Minecraft for now since I will no doubt be posting a ton this weekend about it. So let's talk about another upcoming game and thats Destiny which is out next week. I really do not know what to say about this game, it looks good and I did enjoy the Beta. Do I think the hype for it is bang on? no I don't, I really don't see this being the game of the century that everyone claims it is. Don't get me wrong it looks amazing and it probably will be good, but don't think its this ten out of ten.

I have it pre-ordered on the PlayStation 4 just a box standard edition but I'm really not sure if I will get it day one now. Thing is though if I do wait and then when I pick it up later it could be brilliant and I will have a long grind to catch up with my friends. Also to note I have no games other than Minecraft slated for this month and October is already falling a part with delays so I would have plenty of time to play it or to work on some old games.

Will have to think about it over the weekend, probably wise to check out what is coming out over the next few months so I can plan my spending. I know November is jam packed this year with lots of goodies.

Anyway on that note I'm going to shoot since I want to get some time on Diablo, have a good one folks

Looking Forward

Evening folks,
After writing the earlier post about last week I thought it be a good idea to do a post about my thoughts for the upcoming week. It’s going to be a very busy week for non-gaming since I’m heading off on holiday at the end of the week and I got a trip to the Microsoft HQ mid-week there is plenty to do.

Gaming for this week though is huge! It’s the week to start off the end of year releases for me. Starting on Tuesday sees the release of Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition on the consoles. Picking this up on the PlayStation 4 so I can play with the Shadow of Colossus armour and the Last of Us dungeon. Really looking forward to playing Reaper of Souls content since I’ve not had chance to touch it on the PC yet. Going to transfer my save over from the PS3 so I can jump straight into the expansion on the PS4.

So yeah that’s the first game to start off my end of year releases although the next one will not be coming out until September (probably Destiny first). Although I did just find out Swords Art Online for the Vita is releasing this week. I completely forgot this was coming out since the last I heard it was meant to hit the marketplace back in July. Not sure about this game fully yet since I’ve not had time to the watch anime TV show but the concept sounds amazing. Will have to wait and see what the price is for the game, probably have to wait until after my holiday to pick it up.

So that’s it for releases this week but I do need to start working on some gaming though, not sure where I will fit it in though with the less free time this week. Oh wow I just remember there is one more thing releasing this week! The next expansion for Star Wars Old Republic hits on Tuesday as well. Wow I’m really shocked I forgot the early access starts this week because I was subscribed. This expansion introduces strongholds so player houses/bases basically which will be awesome to store all the cool loot. Player housing in Star Wars Galaxies was one of my favourite things for that game so I have high expectations for it in SWTOR.

So this game along with World of Warcraft is on my list to start replaying again since I’ve recently not been giving it the time of day it deserves, plus I’m wasting timecards which is never a good thing.
It’s going to be a busy week with everything I want to play and should be playing. Warcraft, SWTOR, Diablo and so on, need to get some games completed before the big October rush hits.

How about you folks? Got plenty to play? Or have you been keeping on top of you gaming pile? On that note I’m going to head off and play some games.

Night folks,
Iznic

Calming Down

Morning folks,
Well the mad March rush of new releases is finally coming to a end and the bank balance can now stop crying. It's amazing how the start of the year is turning into a new Christmas for the last couple of years. There is still a few games coming out for me over the next two months but a lot less compared to what just come out and more weeks in between releases so there should be time to clock games and trade them in.

Hopefully you all had a great week and have been playing quite a few games, for me I was working on South Park Stick of Truth all weekend. In fact Monday morning I finally clocked the Platinum trophy for it which now brings me up to six for the year so far (twenty is my goal for the year. So not doing to bad so far with my challenge with my friend. Anyway back to the game and I got to say it was amazing, if you love the show you really need to give it a try. It's a really long episode is the way to sum it up and I recommend to do all the side quests because is so many gags you will laugh at. Got to say it's on the list for Game of the Year so far.

With that out of the way I'm now working on a few games, well I am and I'm not. Not really got stuck into anything just yet, still trying to do the Xbox One Achievement Challenge for Titan Fall and get level 50 by the end of the month. Last night I hit level 34 so I'm close but I'm really running out of time and in fact I need to do roughly five levels a day just to hit it.

Really doesn't help that I keep getting terrible lag and rubber banding in the game though. In fact I lost connection several times yesterday and it ruined one amazing game for me. Would say it's my connection but I've checked it and nothing is wrong plus it seems I'm not the only one. Just hope they can sort it soon because its making the game unplayable sometimes.

Fingers crossed with that anyway so other then that I am starting inFamous Second Son, picked it up the other day along side Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls. Only done say an hour max but so far it's pretty sweet, graphics are amazing and the game play is not too bad. Will hold judgement off until I've got into it a little more then I will tell you guys what I think.

So that's it for me this week folks, Titan Fall and inFamous will be taking over my game time. Not sure yet what I will do after those two but expect a post soon with what I've done. I do have a few more posts in the pipe line just need to write them up, hopefully I can get one or two up later but until then have a good one folks.

Assassin's Creed Unity

Morning folks,
Few days ago a "leak" came out about the new Assassin's Creed game and showed off two screen shots from the ALPHA. It revealed the game was for the next generation consoles only and that another game was in the works for the past generation. Also it it revealed the setting for the game being France in the 18th Century. The leak was posted up on Kotaku which you can find here, there is a quite a few screen shots to check out plus the logo (See below)

Leaked Logo thanks to Kotaku
Anyway last night was the final reveal from Ubisoft and it was confirmed that the leak was real, the new game is called Assassin's Creed Unity which takes place in the French Revolution. Check out the teaser trailer below ...

Cannot lie I was hyper yesterday when I saw the news and I had to stop myself from jumping on the spot. I'm looking forward to see what's new and how the story is going to fold out with the Templar's, plus I'm very excited to see what the second game could be. Will it be in the same setting or a completely different one, so many questions right now and lets not forget what awesome collectors editions will they do this year. Although it's going to be expensive year if there is two games this year.

Anyway soon as more gets posted up I will do more updates but for now Arno the new Assassin will have to wait, graphics look amazing by the way.

Gamers Year Day 6-20

Might be a little out of date with the keeping you guys up to date with what I've been playing but oh well. So good news in the past two weeks I finally clocked Lego Marvel on the PS4 which the flying stuff was a nightmare for me.  Had quite few bugs and problems as well but overall I really did enjoy the game in the end, if I had to score it I would say a solid 8 out of 10. The graphics was amazing for the series and the open city was brilliant, got to be the biggest lego game so far. As I said though the flying controls and bugs held the game back for me.

Anyway so that was platinum number one for the year and my first next gen game fully clocked (will be referring to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as current gen from now on). That was last week and now I'm on holiday this week I decided to give Minecraft a big session yesterday, roughly ten hours in fact and got the platinum trophy for that as well. Got to say the PlayStation 3 version re sparked my interest in Minecraft again, not played it on the Xbox/PC in months but after learning enchants, potions etc. I really want to do more maps again and the Enderdragon was awesome, really good boss and a nice addition to the game.

Took a lot of prep work though to get that stage and I would say 80% of the time I spent playing was working towards that goal. So yeah really good game still and I will be making sure to give Minecraft an hour or two each week, need to make a map that I will use constantly. Don't worry I will post up screen shots of my work and when the versions come out for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 I will be able to do videos finally.

So two platinum trophies so far for my year challenge so not bad at all, I want to get at least one this week while I was on holiday but I was not expecting it on the second day. My next goal is to finish the story for Assassin's Creed Black Flags since I've still not done it. Kicking myself for that but I really want to give the game time it deserved instead of small thirty minute windows. So today that is what I will be playing, of course I will be playing some other stuff as well but not sure yet. On that note folks I need to dash since I want to get on and I have a lot of things to do first before I can play some games.

Have a good one folks,
~ Iznic

Gamers Year Day 3/4/5

Evening,
So four days to cover in this post for my year progress and like I mentioned in the last post not a lot was done this weekend. But I did have a good gaming session yesterday which made up for the whole weekend, anyway onto the day posts.

DAY THREE - 3rd January 2014
Not much to report for this day other then I did start the multiplayer for Assassin's Creed Liberation. This game is on my list to get the platinum for but I won't be doing the singleplayer stuff just yet because I have planned for this year to do a full marathon for Assassin's Creed. The entire series starting with one since it's been a few years since I played the older ones, plus the fact I picked up the anthology set last year on PS3 so got plenty of trophies to earn while doing it. Anyway I decided to start the multiplayer since I heard it was similar to a facebook style game and takes a bit of time to get all the trophies.

It's shockingly bad and I'm really surprised with Ubisoft allowing it to be like this. You send agents out on missions or do combat missions which involve stats, actually that's a lie your stats don't matter you always win. Only thing that does matter is energy since you need that for your agent to bring in points. Every seven days is a cycle where the world fights for control of cities and the side with the most wins, of course everyone picks Assassin's so it's one sided. Honestly if I wasn't going for the platinum I wouldn't be touching the multiplayer at all.

So yeah I've started the grind with that on the night and also I picked up a new game for my collection while I was out. Spotted Lego Chima for the Vita in HMV for half price which was the cheapest I've ever seen it anywhere. Tried out the first level and it's pretty much similar to Lego Lord of the Rings so I've put aside next to the games to be clocked over the next few months ready. I know I'm putting a pile together and shouldn't but it unless I'm going to play but it was cheapest I've seen it all year, was not going to turn it down for that price. That was day three pretty much wrapped up so onwards to Saturday!

DAY FOUR - 4th January 2014
Very little to report other then continue with the grind of the multiplayer for AC Liberation, about half way for the first trophy though.

DAY FIVE - 5th January 2014
Sunday was the best day for gaming for me and especially since it was my day off, had a proper chilled out day to myself. Started off with the PS4 and did a few collectibles on Lego Marvel, even got past the annoying flying challenge I was stuck on (how I hate the flying controls). Actually was really getting back into the game and will be focusing more time on it to try and get it fully clocked.

Jumped over to the PS3 and went back on Minecraft and clocked about another six trophies, I'm pretty much all covered now on the crafting stuff. I spent hours building the mine cart track for the 500m trophy then spent over an hour bow duelling with skeletons to get the 50m sniper trophy. Got to say that was one of the most annoying trophies I've ever earned. So all that is left now is four trophies for the platinum, all combat ones as well so I'm currently working on finding some diamonds to make a full set of armour and weapons so I have the full advantage.

Finally I rounded the day off with a multiplayer session of Tomb Raider with a friend, trying to get all the multiplayer trophies for the PS3 version out of the way ready for the next generation at the end of the month. Did pretty sweet last night and got up to level 16/17 I think with about four to five trophies for my troubles.

Very good end to the weekend really and I'm charging full steam ahead for my year challenge, really getting back into the spirit of earning trophies and achievements. Just wished I had bit more time over the weekend since I really wanted to get something clocked. Not much time left today either as well thanks to work so don't expect Day Six to be any good but I am about to head off and get a small session in before bed so on that note have a good one folks.

Day One and Two

Good morning folks,
I thought it might be cool to try and keep the blog updated with my gaming progress towards my 2014 goals. So here is my first two day entries for the new year and what I've got planned for the next few weeks.

DAY ONE - 1st January 2014
I was hoping to get quite a bit of gaming done today but that went out the window since I got lots to catch up on. Of course it did not mean I didn't get any gaming in, I finally clocked Ryse Son of Rome on the Xbox One. I was just two chapters short from completing so I went for it and this is my first game clocked for the new year, plus my first clocked Xbox One game.

Got to say I really enjoyed it to say how many people keep putting it down, I would not say it's triple AAA but it's a brilliant game. Graphics are outstanding and it would be a game you use to show off the Xbox One. Story is ok and bit predictable in some plays but enjoyable, kept me going anyway and the controls was good. Personally I did find some of the fights a nightmare but I've never been been amazing with these type of fighting games.

So anyway I did earn 280 gamerscore for finishing off which I was pleased about and was shocked to find I'm now sitting on 700/1,000. Think I might go for the full 1,000 now since I'm so close, it will involve playing through again on Legendary which I think will be hard for me. Plus quite a few achievements are tied into the multiplayer but I do have a few friends with this game. Seems a doable 1,000 to me plus the fact I still want to play the game, not often that happens.

Other then that I never got around to jump onto anything else for today, was hoping to get some gaming done on the PS4 but that won't happen since of the time.

DAY TWO - 2nd January 2014
Complete opposite to yesterday and pretty much zero gaming done today, I did sneak in a quick small mission on Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flags (PS4) on the morning but that was it. Got a funny feeling that the weekend will be the same since I got lots to do plus I'm going to be out a lot as well. But it wasn't all boring, I did sit down and plan out some of my games for my goals. I have a lot of games I want to platinum or 1,000, not just going out and finding the easiest games. Although I was shocked to see that I could get 10 platinum trophies with just Lego games this year (Hobbit and Movie are out this year). I don't care what people say I love the lego games and one of my favourite series plus they not easy to get, amount of time you have to input for the collectibles can rival a good RPG.

Anyway but yeah I got list forming of some great games I want to work on, not a lot future games on the list since no announcements yet but of course that can change when they come out. Might post up the list later once I've finished writing it out.

So that's my first two days of the new year and has I said I will try to post up each day or merge them together like this. My plans for the next week is to finish off Lego Marvel on the PS4 since the story is finished, just the huge grind of collectibles and challenges to do. Also I'm working on Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flags PS4 as well for the story, really want to know what happens next in my favourite game series.

Right I better shoot since I've got lots to do, have a good one folks.
