Loot Crate February 2016 "Dead"

Evening folks,
Mystery boxes have been around now for a while and it’s something I keep hearing about but never really paid that much attention too. Well until now that is, I don’t know what made me do it but I sat down and watched a few unboxing videos on YouTube a couple of weeks back and got hooked. I know it’s a mystery and it can be a hit & miss with the boxes but the last few months’ boxes had stuff I really would had loved to get.

So I took the plunge and signed up for a few different subscriptions, thought if I sample a few and see what I get then I can decide on which to stick with. I’ve gone with 1UP, Loot Crate Standard & Level Up plus the Marvel Corp Box.

If you don’t know what a mystery box is then basically it’s a monthly box of random items based around a certain theme. Most of the boxes out there are geeky but they can cover everything from geeky, reading, gaming and even pets. Items in the box can be anything from mugs, t-shirts, books, pop funks etc. Loot Crate is one of the most famous ones out there and would be the best to place to see what this is all about.

Anyway back to the post, so my first two boxes have arrived and I will be covering the second one later but for now I want to talk about today’s box that arrived.

The standard Loot Crate arrived this morning and to be honest I was slightly worried I might not like this one. The theme was based on the “Dead” so we talking no doubt about zombies etc. but they did hint that Deadpool and The Walking Dead will have something to do with the box. I’ve never watched the Walking Dead but I do love Deadpool so my fingers have been crossed for the last few weeks that his box would turn out ok.

Well I was not let down as you can see from the pictures! Straight away Deadpool items seem to be the main thing in the box. Cannot describe how happy I was to see that.

So the main two big items are the Tacos T-shirt and the QFig for me and the box has paid for itself and then some. I love the design on the t-shirt and I’ve been looking for a good Deadpool t-shirt the last few days so it’s just perfect.

The figurine I need to find a home for and I’m thinking next to my TV along with my Pipboy and Pagan Min bobbleheads. Cannot help but chuckle at it thinking that he’s been playing with his C4 chair again or something. Also in the box was a Walking Dead soap on a rope which is a bit creepy but I’m guessing if you were a fan of the show you would get the reference. Should be interesting seeing my family using that to clean with. Final item was a construction toy figurine based on one of the cast in the show. Again not being a fan of the show it did not appeal to me but I’m guessing fans will like it.

So that’s it for this box, well there was the theme pin as well that’s nice little collectable which will be going on my wall with my other pin badges. Anyway I’m really happy with the box and give it a solid 9 out of 10. The t-shirt and figurine really sold it to me and I will be keeping this subscription.

I will try and get the next unboxing post up in the next few days. Hope you like this different post today and don’t forget to leave a comment.
See you soon folks,

Child of Light Deluxe Edition Unboxing

Afternoon folks,
Feels strange doing another post so close to the last ones, unlike me to be organised for once. Anyway I've picked up Child of Light earlier and it's currently installing so I thought it be a great time to do a unboxing post while I'm waiting. So let me introduce you to the Child of Light Deluxe Edition...

This is the PlayStation 4 version which does with the PlayStation 3, the main game of course is a digital game so it's just a code in the box with the extra goodies. Normally I would not go out of my way to get a special edition for a game I'm unsure about but the price was just too good, the game by it self is £11.99 while the deluxe was £15.99. So for an extra four pound for a keyring, DLC, artbook and a poster it was a bargain.

The poster is made of a better quality paper and the artwork is beautiful, but I do find the princess a bit freaky. Not something I would go out my way to put up to be honest but I will give credit on how well it was drawn and done.

The rest of the box is taken up with the packaging holding the light up keyring which is based on the companion in the game. Not tried the the light yet but it is cool, might hang it on my bag with my Elderscrolls Online key chain. Does remind me of the Dragon Quest slimes in one way when I look at it.

Finally we have the small artwork book is which only a few pages, I was not expecting much since the price was cheap. The cover is just normal card but the artwork inside was great, check out below for a photo of just two pages (my favourite images of course).

Of course I do have two DLC codes for the Dark Princess skin and the golem pack, not sure how they turn out yet since I'm still waiting for the game to install but I will get a screen shot up soon. Will give a shout when I add it to the post later. Anyway that's it for this special edition, not the biggest one but I would say it was worth the four pound in cost for it. Hopefully the game will turn out amazing and expect a post tomorrow or Friday from me about how amazing it is. Until then have a good one folks and hope you enjoy your night.

God of War Ascension Collectors Edition Unboxing

Thought it would be a good idea to get another unboxing post up, this one has been on the cards for the last few weeks now. This is the God of War Ascension Collector's Edition, it contained the steel book special edition plus the extra season pass and Kratos figurine.

The box was just simple cardboard design with the golden dark shadow effect that's been used for the theme through out the advertisement campaign of the game. On the one side you could see the front cover of the steel book and the other side shows the figurine it self.

As you can see in the top picture there was some assemble required when it came to the Kratos figurine, both arms needed to be attached. I was bit disappointed with the figurine it self due to the fact the plastic was quite cheap, the figure was painted nice and the detail was good. What was really annoying though was the arms had to be slotted onto pegs to be attached and who ever did the design cut the peg shape wrong on the one arm. It took me nearly thirty minutes to finally get the arm on and I had to use a knife to cut the shape inside better. This was a huge mistake on their part and when you forking £80 out for a edition like this, this should not be happening.

Another thing you will notice is that on the head is a red dot where a bit of paint was splashed, I've ignored it and counted it as blood but overall I really expected better quality control. Least it still looks good on my shelf with the rest of my collection. So other then the figurine in the box was the special edition which was a steelbook case with several DLC included (plus the season pass for the collectors edition). In the way of the DLC it was all multiplayer bonuses and the soundtrack, so lets skip over that and talk about the steel book.

Steel book Cover and Slipcase

The outside is just black with the God of War symbol and a slip case cover for protection, the inside though had some amazing artwork. It features two warriors from the multiplayer mode and I loved the work gone into the drawing, I would preferred this on the cover to be honest.

Steelbook artwork
Overall it was an ok Collectors edition but I really did not feel like I got my money out of it, a lot of the bonus DLC was multiplayer in the ways of XP boosting. The season pass content has not gone live yet, well I don't think it as but there is no options on the menu to find out in the game. Guessing I have to complete the multiplayer tutorial to find out. Anyway I'm getting off topic, nice steel book and the figurine was just ok but could had been a lot better. Not the best collectors edition out there and if I was given a choice then I probably would had just picked up the special edition instead. So that is it for my short unboxing today folks, I will find a much nicer collectors edition to talk about next time but until then have a good one.

Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm Collectors Edition Unboxing

Morning folks,
I did have planned to post up the unboxing for the Assassin's Creed 3 Freedom Edition but I cannot find the photos I took anywhere. So instead I've got next week's unboxing instead, say hello to the Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm Collectors Edition.

Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm Collectors Edition
I love how much effort Blizzard put into their collector editions and this is one of my favourites, as you can see from the picture the box is designed like one of the security doors and opens up like one. The box is high quality cardboard and the scratch marks and dented in to give it that feel like the Zerg have attacked it.

As you can see the top part slips off and everything is slotted in, there is a holding area at the bottom so there is no loose items rattling about to get damaged. Like I said Blizzard go to town on everything they do and nothing feels cheap, it's made to last. So anyway onto what you get inside the box, well first up you get a nice artwork mouse mat (see below) and the soundtrack. Also you get a copy of the game of course, behind the scenes making off disc which for the first time comes on both DVD and Blu-ray. Not many collectors edition have Blu-ray discs for the behind the scene stuff, it's just showing how much the times are changing.

There is also quite a bit of in-game DLC included, most of the Blizzard stuff come with in-game items plus items for their other games as well. So for the Starcraft game you get three exclusive Portraits for your profile (zerg, zerg night elf and zerg pandarian). You also get a new skin for one of the units in the game, the Torrasque Ultralisk which can be seen below.
Looks awesome in the game but anyway that's what you get for Starcraft, for World of Warcraft you get a new in-game pet the Zerg Baneling to follow you around and to join in the pet battles with. For Diablo 3 you get the Queen of Blades wings for you character and a banner with Zerg logos and portraits.

So that's it for the extra DLC items and there is just one more item left to talk about and that is of course the awesome artwork book. Like I keep saying Blizzard go to town and this artwork book is not one of those small A5 paperback books that are only ten pages long. It's A4 hardback and around 140+ pages. Take a look below at the cover and yes the book is grooved so each spine and spike stands out. Every collectors edition so far done by Blizzard comes with one of these amazing artwork books and you can a few hours going through them easily. Check out below of two photos from the book to give you an idea on how nice the artwork is.

Artbook

So that's it folks for this unboxing and I do hope you enjoyed it, hopefully by next week I will find my missing photos and put up the Assassin's Creed 3 unboxing. If not I can also just retake them again but anyway on that note have a good one and I hope you enjoyed this post.

Gears of War Judgement Limited Edition Unboxing

Morning folks,
Thought I would start the weekend off with a small unboxing post and what better then the GAME UK exclusive Gears of War Judgement Limited Edition.

Gears of War Judgement Limited Edition (GAME UK Exclusive)
This was just a copy of the game with a exclusive steelbook plus some extra DLC for the multiplayer. The packaging was just an outer cardboard sleeve that wrapped around the standard box and the steelbook. The DLC that was included was the "Classic Hammerburst" and the "Emergence Era Marcus" character skin (also known as the Young Marcus), both are multiplayer items. Also included was a code for the original Gears of War game since that was a day one offer for everyone who purchased the game.

Standard game and Steelbook
As I said there was a copy of the standard game, the steelbook was one of the nicer ones with Baird being arrested on the one side and then on the back the Locust attacking the city. Inside the steelbook was a picture of the city with the COG flag burning.

Inside artwork

Outside artwork
So that's it folks for the Limited edition of this game, it was not exactly a huge collectors edition but still a nice steelbook none the less. Shame the game did not go full out like Gears of War 3 with the Epic Edition. Anyway until next time have a good one folks and take care.

Defiance Ultimate Edition Unboxing

It's about time for me to start getting these Unboxing posts up so I decided to give it a crack this morning and I'm going to start with one of my latest collectors editions. Say hello to the Amazon Exclusive Defiance Ultimate Edition.

Outer box is huge
As you can see in the picture above the outer box is huge, a lot bigger then I was expecting but to show it off I did put my Gears of War in the picture to give you an idea on the size. To be honest I was just expecting some rubbish outer packaging to hold this in but I was surprised how much work has gone into the boxes. Anyway Defiance is a third person shooter MMO that ties in with the new Syfy tv series that started last week, both can effect each other. So what do you get in this box? well the ultimate edition contains the collectors edition (GAME exclusive) plus the season pass and a bag.

Bag and Collectors Edition

You can see in the picture to the left it was all neatly put away and I got to say the collectors edition box is amazing but I will go over that in a second. First let's talk about the bag you get which I was expecting to be really cheap but instead I got very nice high quality bag.

Defiance "Defi" logo is on the out side then plastered across the inside. Two clips plus Velcro fastenings to keep the bag secure. Inside there is slot pocket for paper and could fit a small net book but I would not go out the way for a laptop. Plenty of extra pockets and zip pockets for anything valuable as well. Honestly I was shocked how nice the bag and the material is the proper weather resistant stuff, in fact I've been using this quite a bit recently.

So let's talk about the collectors edition, this I was really impressed with since the box was made to look like a containment unit. You see the collectors edition comes with a figurine of one of the creatures from the game, so they decided to make the box the containment unit to hold it. Take a look below at it was done.

Collectors Edition
There was one problem with this box and that it was tight for the contents, if you take a look below when it's open you can see every fits in snugly. Trying to get the figurine out was a pain and you can hear the clear holding plastic scratching against the box as you pull it out. When trying to put it back in it also catches the opening windows, this could had been cut down slightly to fit better.

Handles on the side to carry it
This was also problem for the rest of the contents since there is a artbook at the bottom and to get it out I had to turn the box upside down and tap it to force it out. Little more thought could had gone a long way with this but I am happy with the effort gone into making the containment unit box, not many companies would spend time making the boxes look cool.

Inside the collectors edition
So in the collectors edition you get the figurine of course, the artwork book and a copy of the game. If you look in the picture below you can also see the soundtrack with some postcards and stickers. There was even a letter from the in game Professor who you start off with inviting you on the expedition that starts the game off with (nice touch). The game does have all the codes for the extra goodies, the season pass for the next several DLC. Extra armour and weapons for the game as well.

Collectors edition content
To be honest it's a box standard contents for a collectors edition. But I will see the artbook and figurine are really nice, I was shocked though since the figurine is not fixed to the base unit. It just sits on top of it so it can fall off if knocked, a clip to hold it in place would had been nice. But overall one of the nicest collectors edition out there and the game is getting better in my books.

Figurine

Inside the artbook

So I hope you enjoyed my unboxing blog post for Defiance, hopefully I will have a few more for you guys over the next few weeks since I do have plenty of collectors edition sitting around my room.

Ni No Kuni Wizard Edition Unboxing

Evening folks,
It's been a while since I did my last unboxing post and in fact I cannot remember where I got up to (quickly checks). Wait what?!? seriously I've only done two unboxing posts, Diablo 3 and Uncharted 3 collectors editions. Wow I am sorry folks I thought I had done a lot more then that, in fact I thought I had only missed the latest new stuff and few old ones.

Wow I really am shocked and I have no idea how I slacked off so badly, well to make it up to you guys here is the Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch Wizards Edition unboxing.

The outer box
If you follow my blog then you know that over the last week I've had a nightmare to get hold of this rare, wait scratch that, super rare collectors edition. Although the funny part is I ended up with two being sent and a third allocated to me, amazing since a few days before I was on pretty much getting nothing sent. Anyway two friends are very happy now and I'm happy to finally have one and all this put behind me. Not had chance to play the game yet but I will be making up for that in a few minutes once I've finished this post, ended my multiplayer day short to give it time.

Companion artwork
So as you can see in the post above is the outer box,  plus to the right is the edges of the box. I love how much detail has gone into the artwork around it. The only thing I don't like what the fact the cardboard is very thin compared to normal, every time I open the box I worry I might damage it. Although to be fair in their defense it's not like the box is really important unless you are a collector.

Anyway onto what was in the box, the contents of the Wizard edition was of course a copy of the game. Plus a DLC code for two gold companion characters, Golden Mite and Golden Drongo. I have no idea what's so important about them being golden other then they look cool. In fact before I continue writing this post I'm going to go look that up, think it might be good to know. Ok I've just spent five minutes looking and no information yet, so if anyone does know just drop a comment below. So back to the unboxing and check out the below picture which shows the box finally opened.

Contents
I will mention that was already opened before I took the pictures and is why there is no wrappings etc. Anyway as you can see is Mr Drippy plushie and the Wizard book, the two main items that make this collectors edition. The plushie is quite soft and well made, I was bit worried when I first opened the box since that was thin and flimsy that the rest of the stuff would be cheaply made but I was wrong.

The thing that made this edition special for me was the Wizard book, the detail gone into it was amazing, breath taking even. As you will see in the pictures above and below they have gone into major detail with it, the whole book is done like a walk through guide. Dedicated sections for casting spells, what monsters you might encounter with detailed information plus a huge section just dedicated to stories. Every page is beautiful illustrated and the cover is a premium hardback, this book as made the Wizard edition worth every penny in my eyes. I wish publishers take notice and make more stuff like this.

I will be spending a few hours reading it through in the week but right now the game is calling and I think it's time to give it a bash. So on this note I will love and leave you folks, hope you enjoyed this unboxing and I will make it my mission to get another one by the end of the week.
~Iznic

P.S. I would love to hear from you on any feedback about my unboxing posts and what you like or what I could improve on.

Unboxing: Uncharted 3 Explorers Edition

Several days late I know but I finally got around to it so welcome one and all to another Unboxing post, as promised this week I will be showing off the Uncharted 3 Explorers Edition (UK edition). This is one of my favourite collector editions in my collection due to the fact how awesome the chest is. I still remember it arriving on my door step and spending the first thirty minutes just staring at the packaging thinking how awesome, I was really shocked how much effort went into everything. The packaging as you can see is well decorated and it's one of the few outer boxes I've kept since they are normally too bulky and well just plain looking.

Explorer's Edition

How awesome is this!

The chest as got to the best part of the entire thing and it's not cheap material either. The entire thing is wooden and well decorated on the outside with atlas of the world and art sketches of Nathan on the sides. Leather straps and handle as well which have buttons to shut the lid plus the small metal lock as well.

Inside everything is stored and there was bubble wrap around everything to keep it all safe, very impressed since most don't seem to care once it's left the warehouse. The chest can also store 19 games by the way but I can never see myself using it for that, when I get my own place I'm going to have my own gaming shelf showing all these cool things (maybe a gaming room? wonder if Lynn will let me get away with it)

Plenty of Goodies Inside

Starting with the main game itself as you can see in the picture above it was the special edition of the game which the case is entirely cardboard. The reason for this is because the entire thing is designed to be the journal from the game, there are several pages with printed notes/pictures to match the real one from the game. While this is a very cool feature I hated the fact the disc is stored in just a slip page at the back, just glad blu-ray discs are harder to scratch. Also inside was all the multiplayer bonus dlc that came included (golden weapons, exp boosts, extra skins etc) although I'm not a huge fan of multiplayer.

Journal Case

I would love to see a full edition done for Nathan's journal one day, it's one of the first things I fell in love with when I started playing this series. I bet there are quite a few fans out there who would also buy it as well, although by now that journal would be pretty big since of the four games. Maybe do a set of them so there is one for each game, I would buy it anyway.

Sorry to say I did not get the statue out of the protective box and I know I promised that my future unboxing posts would show everything. Reason being I just have no space to store the statue right now so I rather keep it safe until I can, you can still make it out perfectly though.

Nathan Statue

Drake's Ring

Think the face could had been done a little better but oh well still looks cool and cannot wait to finally get it on display with everything else. So what's left to talk about in the box, well how about some cosplay items in the form of Drake's ring and his lucky belt buckle which I hear changes for every game.

Lucky Belt Buckle
If they announce another game and I'm still working in the Video game industry I will dress up as Nathan next time for the launch. Will even get some pictures up on blog if I do, hmm in fact maybe Halloween would be another good time as well. Anyway they are both very cool looking and they made up my mind when I was trying to decide if this explorers edition was worth buying.

The final item in the box is a 3D art card of Nathan Drake which can be seen below, it's quite big and dwarfs the PS3 case. To be honest I had forgotten about it until I started taking the photos for the Unboxing so I might get this into a frame on my wall, think it would go nicely above my desk.

So that's it for this post folks and I hope you enjoyed this Unboxing, I would love if you could leave some feedback on what you think and what improvements you would like to see. Next week I will be doing another Unboxing but this time I'm going to allow you my readers to pick which game I should put up, don't worry in the end I will do all of them but for now just leave a comment here or on Facebook/Twitter with which game you want next.
