Afternoon all,
Just finished work and had some dinner so it's time for a small rant before I get into any gaming, so if you follow my blog on Facebook you would had seen my panicking messages this morning. If not then well here is the full story, Facebook as blocked blogspot.co.uk along with a few other country versions (hearing Canda version is blocked too). So when I tried to link my new post this morning I was shocked to see a blocked warning come up saying blogspot.co.uk is blocked because and I quote "its spammy".
So someone must had spammed links to their blog and they decided to block the entire blogspot community for it? I would clap but I don't want waste any time of them, also "spammy"??? really??? that's a really professional error message you got there. So I quickly sent a report off which actually made me laugh when it asked why I think it shouldn't be blocked, I was tempted to say stop being petite and blocking Google products but I was not in the mood for that can of worms today.
Anyway what made me really interested was the fact my blog is not .co.uk but in fact .com, so a quick look up on good old Google and I found others are having the same problem to the point that it was deleting any old messages on their Facebook page that contained the blocked links. Checked mine out to find all of my April and May posts gone, the words "Rage Quit" come to mind when I saw everything was gone.
There was a nice few people on the message forum who explained what had happened, seems blogger will change the URL when you looking at the blog to your country specific address. So even though my blog is .com since I'm in the UK I will see .co.uk, of course when I post my links I just copy and paste. Now for some reason over the last few days Facebook as been blocking the country specific ones but leaving America alone (.com) but they did have a few work arounds which includes editing the link before posting which I did this morning for my new post. Worked like a charm, woohoo! have that Facebook.
Plus if I click the share button that would work too, I did not have chance to check that out since I was late for work nearly *grumble*. But my good mate Wes from VGI did a test earlier and was able to share the post link so that's confirmed to worked as well.
So overall everything is kinda of sorted for now, still lost two months worth of posts plus all your comments gone but least ... well I don't know how to end that sentence, still peeved off with Facebook and that sums it up.
I'm off to go do some gaming now and let some steam off

Woo! Shoutout!
ReplyDeleteGlad it helped, pissed me right off. Even though it doesn't affect VGI, seeing as we have a paid URL, but the principle, Google products, sucks!
