Update time!

Time for an update, I was meant to be updating the stats every week but I was so close to finishing two games I held off the updating until I was done. Since the start of the year I been trying to do the rule of three (think star wars rule of two), basically one major game and one minor game. The third game is reserved for handheld titles since I do stay over the girlfriends on a weekend meaning no big consoles.

So last week I decided to play some of the games on my golden challenge list, hopefully to clock them in time for the end of week. Reason for that being its the start of the new releases this week (see my week away posts and you will understand), of course this did not go to plan since Lovefilm sent me two game rentals so now I'm overwhelm with games and time as run out. So here is what I picked and what was sent.

Batman AA GOTY on the pc was my first choice, it was on the list of old games and would easily give me 600 gamerpoints to my xbox score, add in the fact I love the game it was a solid choice.

Second game I picked Resistance fall of man, this game as been sitting on my shelf since day one. I played for a like an hour on launch then never bothered with it since, end of this year sees the third in the series being released so I thought it was time to finish it so I could get on with no. 2 (which is also sitting on my shelf). Again it was another game on my challenge list but no trophies, shame but it would be nice to get another old game finished.

Finally the third game is Pokemon Soulsilver, with the release of Black and White soon I had a craving to play some Pokemon, that and the fact I cannot find my Phoenix Wright cartridge did not leave me with much choice.

Then as I said Lovefilm threw two games at me, both on the Playstation 3 Call of Duty World at War and Eat Lead Return of Matt Hazard. Two easy games but both would take their time to finish, but on the plus side both give plenty of trophies.

So I'm in the middle of those right now but I did divert from the plan on Sunday and finished the last few levels on Transformers War for Cybertron. I suddenly remembered I was close to finishing the game and by doing that it was one more game clocked, one more knocked off the challenge list, some more gamer points and a game to trade in towards the new releases. Not a great game to be honest, better than the other transformers game out there but still not good. I will do a review later for it and go into detail why, the good news is that the trade in price is higher then I paid so woot!

Anyway last bit information before I finish the post with the stats, I just finished Resistance fall of man the other day. It is amazing, very underrated game that's for sure. Again like Transformers I will be doing a review later and I'm now looking forward too playing the second one. So onto the good stuff, the stats, first up the 2011 details so far:

Just a Week Away (Part Three)

Blimey there is a lot of games I want, think my bank manager is panicking lol. So done the first two weeks and now hitting the eye of the storm, the quiet period.

11th March
Dragon Age 2
Since I've not completed or really put the time into the first one, the sequel was going to wait for a price drop. Of course then they announced the Sig Edition, basically loads of extra weapons, armour and an entire dlc content all for the same price as the normal edition. Now that's a deal! so of course I've now got that on order, shame the special edition can no longer be ordered. If you missed out the dlc content is meant to come out a month later, you just won't get it for free sorry.

15th March
Shogun 2 Total War
Yes a Tuesday release and one of my favourite games, I've never finished the story campaigns on any of the Total War games I just love playing skirmishes. So what's making me look forward to this version? samurai are back! and the A.I looks amazing in the game play trailers. I can tell that I'm going to be wasting hours on small battles, cannot wait!. Also I've got the GAME special edition on order that also supplies you with some exclusive clan dlc and a full chess set made out of bamboo and hand painted. Score!

18th March
God Eater
It's not often I find a game I want on the PSP, God Eater is basically anime style monster hunter game. Watch the trailer, it looks amazing! your weapon can transform into melee, range and predator (some kind of form that eats the monsters/gods). Looks action packed and the story looks pretty solid with you chasing after some kind of boss god that is causing destruction, wasn't paying attention since I was glued to watching the fights lol. Hopefully got another gem for the PSP.

Homefront
Another game I was not going to get straight away, in fact it was going to be a rental. But the more I see about it the more I want to play it. Basically North Korea as become stronger and taken over most of Asia to become a super state, then in the name of peace they launch a satellite that in fact is a weapon that takes out all electronic devices in America. This begins the invasion and the story folds around you a resistance fighter, it looks good and I hear you can choose to be either the Korean forces or American in the story. The game play trailers look good and the multi player seems to be ok as well. Maybe I will pick it up, will see closer to the date.

Well that's it for another post, the next one contains the 25th March a huge launch day! So see you soon

Just a Week Away (Part Two)

Morning all, so we continue with the long list of games that are being launched over the next few weeks. Plenty to keep everyone busy and plenty to kill my completion percentage challenge lol, anyway so this time we jumping one week forward from the last post. It was meant to be a quite week with only one game but already its shaping up to be another big day.

4th March
Rift
Brand new fantasy MMO that peaked my interest a few months back after watching a trailer. Basically at any point a Rift portal can open and a invasion army can come through, if left open for too long they start to take over the area. So you can log off safely in a village to come back later to find a war zone if the rifts are not kept under check, not only that but there are several factions that come through Rifts. So if two opposite rifts open the invasion armies will fight each other, it sounds awesome and so far I'm liking the beta. Also the class trees are huge, so many choices that I don't know where to start. I've ordered the collectors edition with all the lovely goodies, should be fun to play hopefully.

Hyperdimension Neptunia
Anime style RPG coming out on the Playstation 3, type of games I love but never finish! Can't really explain the game I would just say watch the trailer, as I said the style of game play and graphics appeal to me. I was going to buy this later on since I was not going to play it straight away but just found out can get a free hardcover artwork book for pre-ordering. Companies need to stop trying to tempt me!

Pokemon White and Black
Need I say more? lol I want the Black Version, if you read through my past posts you will see a post dedicated to this game and what makes its different. But a quick summary why I'm looking forward to it, new battle system and seasons are the two big things for me. oh and of course extra 150 new Pokemon (I wonder if they running out of ideas yet). This will be a day one purchase!

Warriors: Legend of Troy
Basically a Greek Dynasty Warriors game, I'm a huge fan of Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors so this is right up my street. Basically over the top characters that take on huge armies, can get a bit repetitive but I find it a lot of fun Not sure if I will get it on day one though since there is so much coming out

Dawn of War 2 Retribution
Cannot wait!!! I love the dawn of war series, its been one of my favourite all time RTS games. This time its bringing back several classics modes and features, first upplanet type campaigns are back. This is where you take over sectors and aim to control the entire planet while fighting multiple factions. Also thrown in again is playing as different factions, its going to be awesome! Orks, Chaos Space Marines, Imperial Guard (new race), Space Marines and Tyranids! Think this game could take up most of my time for the next few weeks and be on the list for game of the year

So that's it for the 4th, doesn't like many but when you take in the fact what came out the week before you can see why it becomes so costly. Next post will contain the next few weeks since only a few games are coming out.

Edit: Forgot to add Dawn of War 2 Retribution

Just a Week Away (Part One)

Good morning all, how is everyone?

It's come to me today that in a week's time begins the quarter one huge line up, starting from 25th until pretty much April there is at least one/two games out every week! It's going to be very expensive and push my challenge to the test since I'm trying to keep at least 50% completion rate on new releases this year. Anyway I thought I would do a post on what's got my interest and why.

25th February
Killzone 3
After playing this at the beta rooms I've been looking forward to it, of course I will only be able to play the multi player for the time being since I need to finish the second one first. Technically I should wait for this game since I'm not getting it straight away but I'm picking up the collectors edition with all the lovely first day perks and dlc content included.

Bulletstorm
This game is going to rock, over the top chaos is the words I would use to describe it. Love the kill skills involved, I can see replaying this game a lot to try and beat old scores, and of course to clock every skill in the game. Going to be getting the Epic Edition so I have access to the Gears 3 beta, that's one awesome bonus!

Grey Matter
Mystery solving game, for some reason this game as got my attention and I'm not sure why. Of course with all the new releases only a select few will be picked up on day one and this game is being added to the rental since I found out its a point and click, but as I said for some reason I want to play this game.

Two Worlds 2
Not getting this game on launch, originally I was but realising I still need to finish the first one I see no reason to buy this yet. Just wait for a price drop/deal of the week in a few months then probably pick it up

Pirates of the Caribbean Armada of the Damned
Ok I want this game on launch but when I looked up the trailer the other week there was a news post saying it was cancelled back in October. So right now I don't know what's going on, I'm assuming its an error on GAME's part with it still being on the release list. Secretly I'm hoping it does come out but I know the chances are too slim.

Tactics Ogre
Another RPG for the PSP, I keep looking at this game and I'm on the fence about it. It's getting some awesome reviews and scores but I doubt I would play it for a while. But just checked it again and it's now coming with a load of goodies included, vouchers, soundtracks etc. Stop tempting me!

Knights Contract
Saw a trailer a few months back and looked ok, basically a fantasy based game around a knight and witch. Story along the lines of the knight was cursed with immortally thanks to a witch he killed (some kind of witch bounty hunter), now a darkness as appeared and the witch is brought back to life. So now the witch and knight have to work together to combat the darkness. So cliche but the trailer did look good, again though I'm not sure if this would be a day one purchase, will have to see.

So that's the first friday, yes its a lot lol. Basically the 25th feb and march are the two worse days in this quarter for too many releases, next week is going to be costly but its a good thing I did some trade-ins and its pay day. Anyway going to split the post into multiple ones to cover everything, so this is the end of part one.

Deus Ex Human Revolution

I'm very excited to play this game, it's in my top five most anticipated games for this year. It look's beautiful and looks to have a gripping story, I can see losing a good few months of my life to this game. But don't take my word for it, check out the trailers below that got me wanting this game.

My favourite first trailer I watched

My Challenge

Just been thinking about what challenge to set myself for the Golden Key 2011. In the end there are at least half dozen of different things I would like to do which would not last the year by them selves, so I've decided my challenge will be built on several goals.

Of course I have done several year long goals in the past and never hit them due to many factors, hopefully this year I can keep on track/keep the motivation up. My goals are mostly set on past games that have been gathering dust on the shelf, if you been read the past posts at the start of the year you know full well I've got half dozen piles to get through. The constant "I will get around to them" keeps annoying me so I'm using this challenge as a excuse to play them. So without further stalling here are my goals for the ultimate gamers challenge!

1. Complete two JRPGS!

Every year I say I will finally complete one and for the past two/three years I've not even done one yet! So instead of trying to complete one I'm going for two. Call me insane but this is a worthy challenge in it's self.

2. Complete one JRPG to the 100%

I'm going to regret setting myself this, the 100% means all achievements or trophies

3. Complete fourteen old games off the list below
  • Prince of Persia
  • Half-Life Orange Box
  • Lost Planet
  • Naruto The Risa of a Ninja
  • Uncharted
  • Resistance fall of Man
  • Resistance 2
  • Killzone 2
  • Alpha Protocol
  • Dark Void
  • Halo 2 (PC)
  • Gears of War (PC)
  • Batman AA GOTY (PC)
  • Tombraider Underworld (PS3)
  • Metal Gear Solid 4
  • Mobile Suit Gundam (PS3)
  • Phoenix Wright Trials and Tribulations
  • Apollo Justice
  • Bioshock
  • Bioshock 2
  • Alan Wake
  • Star Wars Lethal Alliance
  • Dynasty Warriors 6
  • Borderlands
  • C&C Red Alert 2
  • Fallout 3
  • Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2
  • Stranglehold
  • Spiderman Web of Shadow
  • Too Human
  • Rise of the Argonauts
  • X-men Wolverine
  • Elderscrolls Oblivion
4. Complete five of the new games off the list below
  • Castlevania
  • Bloodstone
  • God of War Collection
  • Transformers War for Cybertron
  • Fallout New Vegas
  • Dragon Age Origins
  • Majin Forsaken Kingdom
  • Spiderman Shattered Dimension
  • Red Dead Redemption
  • R.U.S.E
  • Miles Edgeworth
  • Pokemon Soulsilver
5. Complete at least 50% of the new 2011 releases I buy

If you been reading my stats that I post you know I'm already been keeping track of this and trying to stay on top of it

6. Hit 140,000 gamerscore on the Xbox 360
7. Hit level 12 on the Playstation 3 profile
8. Gain five more platinum trophies on the Playstation 3

Just throwing some stat boosting challenges in there

So that's it, 8 goals for my Golden Key Challenge. Each one a hard challenge in its self and I'm sure I'm going to regret setting them later on. Wish me luck! and hope to see your challenges soon

Movie Games

When I hear there is a game being released based on the movie I always cringe, 99.9% of the time they turn out to be aweful. This year there are several already appearing on the coming soon list to tie in with the new movies, so far I know of:
  • Green Lantern
  • Captain America
  • Thor
I'm hoping for some good games out of these since I'm loving all the super hero movies that have been released but I did have some silver lining in the clouds today. Transformers Dark of the Moon was announced, the story is mean't to set the stage for the third film in the series. With the announcement came some nice pictures and a small teaser trailer. Graphics look good, hopefully game mechanics/controls are good as well. Story should be brilliant since the game is setting the stage for the film but there is always the curse of the movie spin off games! That and the fact I was too keen on the past Transformers games, although I did enjoy War for Cybertron so maybe.

Is anyone actually looking forward to any of these games? or are you worried they just be another bad game? I'm interested to see your opinions

Pop over to xbox360achievements.org who have all the story along with the trailer

Pokemon Wi-fi Event Part Two

The second event as started and will be running until this Sunday (20th February), this time you can get Entei. You can download on either of the following versions. Soulsilver, Heartgold, Platnium, Pearl or Diamond. Also effects the following regions, Europe, America and Australia

One thing I did forget to mention last week is that all three will be in shiny form. Just to make it that much more awesome!

The 1st Golden Key Challenge

I've decided to host a site video game challenge for everyone to take part in, so the 1st Golden Key Challenge is born.

Want to partake? it's quite simple, to make this interesting I'm going to let you set your own challenge for the year. Of course nothing to easy it has to be a challenge that can last the year e.g. finish X amount of games, gain X amount of achievements/trophies, complete a huge game to the 100% max or two games.

Once you have decided what you going to do just reply to this post or the facebook post with what your challenge is. I will be doing a update post quite regularly on my challenge and will be looking forward to hear your updates as well.

Will be listing everyone who is taking part in the posts and will put your updates on there as well, of course if you don't want any of your information posted up just say. I've also made a mini logo image that can be used to show you part of the challenge

Hope to see all of you taking part

Who's Getting Killzone 3?

Looking for a little bit of feedback from you guys, who is getting Killzone 3 on the day launch?

Reason I'm asking is that I'm hoping to get a multi-player game setup on the launch weekend and it would also be the first game night setup by the site. So if you getting Killzone 3 on launch and would be interested in doing some multi-player either reply here or on the facebook page post. If I get few people I will set a game night up for us

Oh also who is getting the collector's edition or Helghast Edition as well would help, reason been these editions give extra multi-player maps.

If this kicks off well I will start trying to get a monthly gaming night setup
~Iznic

Looking forward to Pokemon White and Black

I've always been a big Pokemon fan, ever since it was start showing on sky 1 back in the days (months before it became the popular thing) and since then I've pretty much bought every version that as come out. But every time I do wonder how it keeps going since all they do is add another 100 Pokemon and just move the map around with a slight improvement here or there.

So I was shocked to read about the new improvements in the new versions that are coming out the start of march.

Of course we getting some more new Pokemon, this time another 150 so a big increase compared to normal. But this time we see some massive changes:

  • Seasons have now been added, they work along since the calendar which is pretty cool so you got a reason to play all year long. Pokemon forms/colours can change depending on the season along with some Pokemon only appearing in certain seasons. Also some areas will be closed off until a season starts. So an improved night and day feature
  • New battle system, 3v3 with tactics on where you place your Pokemon since some attacks can only damage right side or left or centre etc.
  • Rotation battles where you can switch pokemon at any time without losing a turn (finally!)
  • Speech is now in bubbles above the character heads to allow multiple characters to talk
  • Massive improvements on the graphics (feel like this game was a test ready for the next version on the 3DS)
  • Double battles in the wild depending on the grass you walk through
  • New Dream World, works with the Global Link website. Basically you can find Pokemon here with abilities they do not normally have. You can also have a house here to grow berries and allow other trainers to come visit (Still looking into it this but it sounds awesome)
Overall I'm very happy with the changes, it looks amazing and it's nice to see they are trying to make the series better for the fans that just pumping out another copy and paste job. March is going to be an awesome month for gamers, especially the handheld community.

Crysis 2

I've been looking forward too Crysis 2 for a while which is a bit strange since I was not that interested in the first one. All the trailers for the story campaigns looking amazing, espically the station fight with the huge mech. You cannot beat a good old sci-fi shooter.

Anyway a few weeks back I saw the below trailer for the multi player and I got to say I'm now excited for the entire game.

[Edit: Sorry to say the embed would not work so its just the link to gamespot so you can watch the trailer there, sorry no idea what happened! looking into it]

So hopefully the entire game will turn out awesome, only thing I'm worried about is the release date. 25th March and for all those who don't know, it seems this is the day to release everything. So far there is the 3ds launching, Lego Star Wars Clone Wars, Dynasty Warriors 7 and a few more. It's going to be costly!

To wrap this post up here is one more trailer for you, the multi player leveling trailer. Shows how leveling up works along with what you can unlock.

COD Black Ops Stats

Some stats on Call of Duty Black Ops have been released and I've got to say they are insane, 1.1 trillion shots fired lol and the world population times nine have been killed. Just shows how popular the call of duty franchise is online.

What a week

Sorry it's took so long to post but this week as been busy thanks to weird shifts at work, so anyway onto the gaming!. Hope everyone had a good week gaming and got a game or two finished.

This week had a lovely me day on my day off Wednesday, spent the entire day having a Mass Effect 2 marathon followed by a few movies. Thanks to this I was able to clock the game yesterday, good old WOOT is in order. Also in the week I finally got the missing achievement in NHL 2K6 allowing me to get the full 1,000 gamer score and making it my number 46 game that's 100%. So great week for me adding two more games to the complete list with a ton of trophies and achievements along with them.

Also means that I've finished two of the three new releases this year, not going to allow 2011 to beat me this year! I've already got plenty of backcat games to work on from past years.

Well that's it for this rambling, I do have tons I want to talk about (upcoming games etc) which I will talk about in the next posts, so far now here the updated stats. Don't forget to comment about how you guys are doing

February Update

Since there should be a few new readers I will start with a little bit of information about what these posts are about, basically I'm tracking pretty much everything this year I do with gaming. How many Xbox 360 Achievements I earn, trophies for the Playstation 3. How many games I completed so far (finishing the story is a completion in my books but will mark if I get 100% of the achievements/trophies) and what they are. Finally I'm also keeping a tab on the 2011 releases I've bought and finish.

If you go back through some of the older posts you will see I buy a ton of games that get stacked on the shelf and never finished, so I'm trying my best to not allow the 2011 releases to do the same as well as trying to finish some old games off. So lets get started with how January went and how it's going this month.

Games Completed In 2011
  1. Fable 3 (Xbox 360)
  2. Command & Conquer 4 Tiberium Twilight (PC)
  3. God of War: Ghost of Sparta (PSP)
  4. Ghost Trick (DS)
  5. Batman Arkham Asylum (PC)
  6. Plants VS Zombies (Xbox 360 Arcade Live)
  7. Professor Layton and Pandora's Box (DS)

Amazing start to the year, the first six where all in January and Professor Layton was finished last night making it the first game of February. I still love the fact I've got a mixture of different platforms there, anyway hopefully this completion rate will continue on throughout the year.

Gamerscore Earned This Year
1,250

Trophies Earned This Year
1 Silver
23 Bronze

Not bad on the trophies and achievements, think I could done a lot better since most of my completions where on other platforms. But its nice to be using my other consoles and getting their moneys worth.

Games Working On
Enslaved (Xbox 360)
Mass Effect 2 (Playstation 3)
Dungeons (PC)

2011 Releases Completed

1. Ghost Trick (DS)

2011 Releases have started to appear and I need to keep on top, there is so much coming out on the 25th of both February and March. Along with the huge list in march as well. It's a great time to be a gamer.

So that's it for this update on my progress, how you guys doing on your gaming collections? completed anything?

Welcome

Thought I would do a quick post welcoming everyone to the "new" blog, for those coming over from the brotherhood of gaming you won't find much difference here. Purpose of this site is all about games and my adventures in them, I love collecting achievements and trophies. I like amazing stories that keep enthralled for hundreds of hours and make you feel part of the game. This site is where I will review, talk about what I'm looking forward too and of course the progress of trying to complete the huge piles of games I keep buying. Not forgetting a few rambling on posts thrown in too.

Of course I will would love to hear your comments on the different games, your progress through your collections and of course what games that you look forward too. So don't be a stranger, comment on the facebook and here on the blog it self.

Hope you enjoy your time here

Merging and Change

For those who don't know i started up a gaming blog "Brotherhood of Gaming", where it was meant to be about gaming news and a clan site. It did not go to full plan but kept running anyway last week I decided I'm going to merge into this blog. To be honest their wont be much difference from what I normally post anyway since on here I do now and again talk about new releases coming up, this is why I decided to merge them since I already do pretty much more here then on the other blog.

Here's the link to the post anyway that was posted over there

For this blog as I said won't change much, probably just a tidy up on the why its organised and hopefully get a banner sorted finally.

How GOTY will work

I'm in the middle of finishing off my review for Ghost Trick so I thought I would post about how the game of the year 2011 will work before I finish. As I said in a earlier post several weeks back there will be a new label called Hall of Fame where the winners will be found, the game of the year label is for the posts keeping track on my thoughts of who should be game of the year etc.

Also I did say I was thinking of doing categories (rpg of the year etc) which I think I will go ahead with. So the following will be tracked through the year and at the end of the year the winners will be announced and added to the Hall of Fame.

  • Game of the Year 2011
  • RPG of the Year 2011
  • Strategy of the Year 2011
  • Action/Adventure of the Year 2011
  • Shooter of the Year 2011
  • Other Genres of the Year 2011

So there you have it, of course this can change depending on my mood through out the year.

Review: Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective

E3 2010 I remember watching the trailer for this game and thinking the concept would be awesome. After that I completely forgot about the game until last week when the game arrived on delivery. Was quite shocked how this had slipped under my radar but I decided to give it a try anyway.

WOW and WOW!

The game was amazing and by far one of the best DS games I've ever played, its right up there with Time Hollow and Phoenix Wright. I would buy a DS just to play this game without having to think about, well done Capcom and please make more!

The story kept me hooked all the way through, you start the game finding yourself dead without a clue who did and why. Add in the fact you forgot who you are as well, to help solve this big mystery you find yourself with special powers (aka Ghost Trick).

You can possess inanimate objects, you can then jump from one object to the next as long as they are in range and some objects can be manipulated (e.g. open umbrella, move a wheel etc). Its a puzzle game basically, you use these skills to stop certain events from happening or to move around the scene. Through the game you find yourself at murder scenes where you can talk to the ghost of the dead victim and go back in time to see the event of death and attempt to avert it. Why do this you say? your a good guy and most of the time the victim as a clue to the mystery.

Trust me you need to play this game, I cannot describe how good this game is. Story is good, game play mechanics are amazing and unique. Graphics are anime styled (thats a plus in my book) and work well for this type of game.

Just go and buy it!

Plus one more

I realised the other night that last summer was in the middle of trying to finish off some of my old games and increasing my gamer score while I was at it. On the schedule was Batman AA for the PC with the GOTY edition to be played next after it (the achievements lists stack), anyway it suddenly come to me that I was about to finish off Poison Ivy when Halo Reach came out and got side tracked with Christmas.

So popped the disc back in the other night and finished the game yesterday, finished off the collectibles this afternoon and did one of the challenges too. Nice increase of 345 gamer points for that game without much trouble and making it the fifth game I've completed this year (yes i know its kinda cheating since I did most of the work last year :-p).

It was good to keep me occupied until today anyway since picked up DC Universe Online and Mass Effect 2 (PS3). So now currently busy wrapped up playing those two, well actually I've not played DC yet since still doing the downloads (11gb patch did in 10 minutes, currently on 30 mins for the 2gb patch lmao).

Gaming Weekend

What a weekend, on Saturday I finally finished God of War Ghost of Sparta and I got to say I loved the ending, hope to see more of Kratos in the future. Then I started Ghost Trick which I just finished about an hour ago.

OMG! its just that good, I will be reviewing it later but its on my list of top great games. This is the type of games I love having my DS for, Time Hollow blew me away in 2009 and Phoenix Wright series is another one. Love the anime style graphics and the different game styles but its the stories that get me, they suck me in and feel part of the world. I want to know what happens next!

Just hope to see more games like this

Four games completed this year so far and I'm very happy with that achievement, not even three weeks in the new year. Top it off as well that each game is on a different platform made me chuckle, wonder if I got a Wii and PS3 game I could do. In fact actually Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 is coming out this week, maybe that will be added to the complete list soon (you know what I'm like for Mass Effect games).

Another good thing as well is the fact that Ghost Trick was the first 2011 new release I've bought so I'm currently on 100% completed for the 2011 games lol. Anyway that's it really, pretty much spent the entire time playing those two games and now trying to pick some games to take over for them. Really could do with jumping back on Enslaved again while I'm at it.

Update for the week

The 2011 new releases have started! picked up Ghost Trick for the DS today which I had no idea was out. Really need to get on the ball, still shocked Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 is out next week. Anyway so its begun alot earlier then I thought and I've still got tons to complete, good news is that I finished C&C4 Tiberium Twilight last night (both GDI and Nod story campaigns). Will review it soon but it was ok, expected alot better for a C&C game though. I'm also about half way through God of War Ghost of Sparta so I'm doing pretty good, let's just hope it stays like this lol.

I've added Ghost Trick to the games working on (taking over for C & C) because I want to stay on top of the 2011 releases this year, last year had to be the worst for the back log of games I built up compared to others and I do not want to repeat that again. Also when I tested out Ghost Trick I loved it straight away, reminds me alot of Time Hollow and Phoenix Wright. It's games like this that make the DS great for me!

Updated list of pile of shame

Well here is the updated list, differences is the rental list increasing in size and bought Pokemon Ranger Guardian Signs today (so i could get the event pokemon). Also Fable 3 as moved up to completed, woot! one down and only two million to go, think the thing that makes me depressed is not how big this list is. It's the fact there is a bigger list for past games I bought from years ago still to do! and the fact end of January beings a huge launch of brand new games.

So many and yet so little time, someone make a time stopping device please!

Announcements

This morning I had to pop to the local shopping centre where I worked to come back to a huge list of announcements, it's amazing what could happen in two hours. I've posted everything on the Brotherhood of Gaming site I run but had to post here about what I thought, and all I can say is "ouch" my bank account is going to hurt for the next several months.

So many collector editions in such a small amount of time with other great releases as well, could mean I might have to ditch some orders. Today they announced the Dead Space CE, Dawn of War 2 Retribution CE, Two Worlds 2 Royal Edition and the date for release of Pokemon Black & White.

Think I need to do what I did with E3 last year and list everything with dates and prices so I can see where I stand, espically with the fact I want to go to the Midlands MCM Expo in Feburary.

Mass Effect 2 DLC

Very excited to hear that Mass Effect 2 is not over yet, got my hopes that it is the dlc that will bridge the gap between 2 and 3 but in another way I'm hoping it's something else so can get two lots of dlc.

Just hoping it's just as amazing as Shadow Broker, Stolen Memories was ok but nothing came close to the amazing mission that was the Shadow Broker DLC.

End of this year is going to be amazing, Mass Effect 3 woot!

DLC Review: Star Wars the Force Unleashed 2 - Endor

Finally decided to download the DLC for the latest Star Wars, with the promise of force drop kicking a ewok I could not resist. I was shocked to find that it only cost 80 Microsoft points, which made me start to wonder how good it was going to turn out.

After about an hour I finally finished it and I got to say I don't think I even hit a hour, it was massively short and disappointing. Through out the game I was hit with terrible lag every time I did a lightsabre combo, at the end you see Tie Fighters in space and several of the skins didn't load so it was just grey blobs flying around. Hopefully patch would fix that but doubt it since the dlc cost barely nothing.

The entire mission felt rushed, you instantly start at the shuttle landing, fight a few rebels then next your in the village killing ewoks for barely a few minutes then you instantly at the bunker. Chewie and Han boss fight was a joke and the story, what can I say It was a last minute job

Only thing I did enjoy was the whole drop kicking ewoks but got bored after the 30th time. So overall it was a bad dlc mission but for a 80 Microsoft point, I have no regrets buying it. Shame other dlc that was terrible wasn't this price.

Game of the Year 2011 Thoughts

You know it just came to me how tough the competition will be next year for game of the year 2011, if you look back at the post I did a few days ago there are quite a few good games but several of these are huge ones. In fact there is a lot of games that are sequels to past game of the years for me.

One game I did forget to mention in the other post was Batman Arkham City, a game I'm currently very excited to play. Its predecessor I actually own four copies of (two for the Xbox and two for the PC, all for achievements but I loved every play through) and soon to get it again on the Playstation 3 for the trophies. Of course Batman Arkham Aslyum was Game of the Year 2009 so my expectations for Arkham City are quite high.

Then there is Last Guardian the third game in the series and the Shadow of the Colossus/Ico HD Remake meant to be this year, Shadow of the Colossus was my game of the year 2006 and pretty much a game that as stuck with me for years. Even to this day I have fond memories of killing off the bosses and long chats with the guys at work on are progress through the game.

Gears of War 2 took my game of the year 2008 and its sequel is hitting Christmas this year with lots of new multi player modes, Gears 2 was what me into co-op multi player with the guys from work so I'm really looking forward to seeing what Gears 3 brings to the table.

Then finally but not least Mass Effect 3...both its predecessor's hold game of the years! Mass Effect being 2007 and Mass Effect 2 being 2010. I have no doubts that Mass Effect 3 will be stunning but its got a lot of competition this year!

Game Reviews

Thought I would update with the changes I'm going to do with my future reviews of the games I play. First off I want to be on the ball this year and update more, last year started off great but I seemed to die off after a few months. I have a notepad file somewhere listing the games I needed to review and I'm still going to do!

Anyway to the changes of my reviewing system, I will still keep the same scoring and maybe go into a little more detail but as I said in the past this site is run by me and meant to be for fun so don't expect a 2,000 word essay on the graphics of the game.

From now on I will be marking the games I played if they are good enough to be a candidate for game of the year. In fact I'm going to be like the other sites out there and do best shooter, best rpg etc. Once the year is over and I award out the game of the year I will go back and edit the review pages to list them, might even try to get my hands on a good graphics editing program to knock up some cheesy images. Oh and start up a new label "Hall of Fame" so they can be found easily enough.

So expect to see that in the future

The Year Ahead

While at work today I suddenly realised this time last year I was looking forward to Mass Effect 2 and the first expansion for Dawn of War 2. It was a great start to the new year and that brought me into thinking about what I am looking forward to this year.

The start of this year is quiet compared to last year, only things that come to mind is Killzone 3 and Sorcery (the two games that would make me buy the Playstation Move). But even then those two games are not really on the top of my most wanted list, but in way that is a good thing since gives me a chance to catch up on the huge list of games I've got from the Christmas bargains.

Anyway back on to what I'm looking forward to, there is Mass Effect 2 for the Playstation 3 coming out at the start as well which will be awesome but been there and got the t-shirt so again not on the most wanted list. End of the year as got some major games coming out which I cannot wait for! Mass Effect 3 (omgomgomg), Elderscrolls 5 (really need to finish Oblivion), Gears of War 3 (cannot wait!) and Uncharted 3 (really need to finish the first one so can get the second one). Man the end of the year is going to be awesome, might have to cancel Christmas to fit all this game time in.

There is also the Shadow of the Colossus and Ico remake coming to the Playstation 3, which hopefully will be some time this year. Loved Shadow of the Colossus, was my game of the year for 2005 and I just remembered there is also the Last Guardian game any time now as well. Oh how did I forget Bulletstorm coming out in February, actually start of the year does have something good to look forward too.

You know what I'm just going to list the rest that come to mind:
  • Lego Star Wars Clone Wars (what can I say, you cannot beat lego)
  • Lego Pirates of the Caribbean (going to be awesome)
  • Deus Ex (the trailer looked amazing)
  • Dungeons (If this is done right it could be Dungeon Keeper 2)
  • Pokemon White & Black (Need to finish Pokemon Soulsilver)
  • 3DS Console (Such potential, just worried about price)
  • Dynasty Warriors 7 (really need to finish off the others I've got)

Ok some how I need to put my life on hold so I can get all these games completed, what are you guys looking forward too

My Game of the Year 2010

Going to cut straight to the chase, so drum roll please!

Mass Effect 2

No shock really since I'm a big fan of the series and the sequel blew me away at the start of the year and I'm already excited for the third one. The story kept me on the edge of my seat, I wanted everyone to survive, I wanted to know what the Reapers where up to.

It was fun, the controls where good and the new abilities menu was easy to us and did not bog you down with too many options. Also there was several great downloadable content patches realises adding some more great side quests.

I can honestly say I got my money's worth, so fair play Bioware for making another great game! You deserve this Game of the Year

Update on this Week

Just an update to the list of lovely games, had a few more rentals since last time. Alpha protocol I found was pretty good but all signs pointed to a very long game that would cost me alot to rent since I don't have much free time right now with work. Also since it does look good and I was enjoying it I'm going to try and pick it up cheap.

Of course after that they sent me Farcry 2, no way I'm starting that so now got Dark Void on the way. Really need to check through my rental list for any too long games

Christmas 2010

Ah Christmas, the lovely time of year where great deals appear in their hundreds, new releases every week and my game collection gets out of control.

Every year for the past two-three years I will buy tons of new games or old games at cracking prices to only barely complete one or two. The rest will sit on the shelf for months before being tempted to play or traded in towards a newer game.

So this year I've been trying my best to sit down and give them a good session A.S.A.P. At first it started off really well but with work piling on the hours (Retail at Christmas sucks) my game time as dropped to barely nothing. But that doesn't mean I'm going to give in, going to win this christmas! anyway below is the list so far.

Oh that reminds me there are some games on the list that came out back in september, I consider these christmas games because they started off quarter four insane new game launches.

Review: Star Wars the Force Unleashed 2

Finally after a long wait it came out, got to say I've been really looking forward to this game for a while. Of course soon as I could get my hands on it, this was all I was playing until it was finished (About two-three evenings).

Got to say it was amazing but there was a few points that I felt could had been a lot better which would had made this game amazing and maybe even Game of the Year for me.

First off the length was short, I was quite shocked how quick this game was over. Not as short as several other games that have come out lately but defiantly not a good length, shame really because it could had been filled quite nicely with a few extra levels.

Second

****---Spoiler Alert---****

Yoda scene was just a cameo role which was disappointing, and what in the world happened with the whole Boba Fett hunting you down. Every magazine article and advert led me to believe there was going to be a huge showdown and nothing! Very upset about that. Can only hope the third game will make up for this

****---End Spoiler---****

But now onto the good points, got to love some of the new combat moves that was added in. Nothing like stealing a staff off a guard only to swing it back and use it against them. Everything else was amazing, graphics was stunning but I expected nothing less since the first one. Story was good and looking forward to seeing how this spans out in the future.

Even though there was a few disappointments, overall I really enjoyed the game and have no regrets picking it up. It will be staying as a keeper on my shelf

P.S. The average score for game play is to do with the spoiler above, don't forget game play for me is my thoughts/did I enjoy it etc

Star Wars the Force Unleashed 2 (Xbox 360)

Mini Update

Thought I would do a small update with everything that's been happening with my life and the gaming world. Well last week I spent a ton of money on games and now wondering will I actually get the chance to play them. Started off with the week before with Medal of Honor (Xbox 360) which I did complete the single player campaign but not touched the online yet, then at the end of that week I picked up the Borderlands GOTY edition. Started playing it but not touched it for several days since thanks to work and WOW.

Then this week I picked up the following over two days:
* Lego Harry Potter PS3
* Legend of the Guardians The Owls of Ga'hoole Xbox 360
* Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 Collectors Edition Xbox 360
* Atelier Rorona PS3

And of course Swordfish (Bluray) and 2,100 Microsoft points to take advantage of the October 800 points refund deal. So right now I got a ton of games to play and I'm thinking no time, especially with lovefilm sending me Morphx (Xbox 360) as well. Oh and lets not forget Fable 3 and Star Wars is out this week, work allows me to get the games in advance so I'm up the creek right now without a paddle lol.

Currently playing Lego HP and trying to finish Batman AA on the PC, so going to stick with them for the time being. Going to try and get back onto Borderlands, put some time into it since I've started off really well. Think Fable and Star Wars will take over next week though

Other then that not much else as happened, actually that's a lie I have been spending a lot of time on Warcraft. Got the headless horseman's reins yesterday, very happy gamer! but other then that just grinding out reputation and doing old quests to get ready for the expansion.

That's it for now
~Iznic

P.S. Forgot, also bought Trinity Universe for the PS3 when i picked up Borderlands

AiA: Yosho Entry 5

Journal Entry 5 - Yosho - Sunday 17th October 2010

4.36pm
Another great start, crashed back to the login screen with a disconnect error.
Right finally in, think its time to finish off Stillpine Hold quests and leave this island.
Just found a chest while i was killing ravagers, nice silver bar for my trouble

4.42pm
Ding! Level 12

4.44pm
All done with the ravager hides, drop rate sucks really bad but least get some decent exp

4.48pm
Right last few quests now involving the hold it self

4.56pm
Last quest, kill the kurken
Got to say the templars verdict sucks. I've tried it with one, two and full three holy powers and it does barely any damage. Hopefully it works better as you level, i hope!

4.58pm
Couple of copper mines and one dead kurken, not a bad job
Ding! Level 13
Put my talent point into the crusade so it increases the damage of my templar verdict, crusade strike etc by 10%, hopefully start to see a difference now.
Well that's the hold completed so hearth stoning back to the watch, ah great another disconnect

5.03pm
Picked up my new skills, rezzing (woot!) and a righteous fury to generate threat for tanking.
Those moonkin in the hold where great, dropped eggs and linen so now making some herb baked eggs for cooking and linen bandages for first aid
Right I'm off to the exodar :)

5.08pm
Just handed the orders quest in and now heading to bloodmyst isle

5.20pm
Just finished the kessel run quest, always makes me chuckle at the reference

5.28pm
Almost done with the Kessel's crossing, bit boring to be honest but did get a new uncommon two-handed mace :)

5.31pm
About to save Princess Stillpine lol
Just made a rough weightstone to increase the damage by 2 for mace, draw back is they take linen cloth to make which i need for first aid but not leveled any blacksmith yet so it helps in the end.
Ding! Level 14

5.37pm
Just killed the naga warlord and the templar verdict came through, taking out 55% of the things health. Now that's what I'm talking about for a skill

5.44pm
Well that's all those quests done, on wards to Blood Watch. Got to say I'm flying through these quests, the npcs seem little threat so far thanks to the changes

5.51pm
Right logged off in the Inn for the night, well I might do some more later but more likely play on my xbox and watch a blu-ray.
