Unboxing: Diablo 3 Collectors Edition

Morning folks,
Welcome to the first ever unboxing post for my blog and hopefully it will be something I do quite regularly when I pick up any collector/limited editions. So anyway thought it is wise to start with the latest collectors edition in my collection and that's the new Diablo 3 game. If you read my blog you will already know but for those who don't I actually cancelled this originally because I could not justify the price and to be honest I should be cutting back.

Well I regretted it big time especially with the fact I'm a huge Blizzard fan, I did get the game free with the World of Warcraft Annual Pass and I was loving the game (another reason I did not pick up the collector's edition was because I was not sure I would like Diablo since I've never played the older ones). I did do some CO-OP with a friend who had picked up the Collector's edition and watching his avatar run around with the angel wings pretty much put me down in the dumps. Of course everywhere had sold out and Ebay goes for around £180 so it was a flat out no for getting it but one lucky morning, still not sure why it happened but I checked the GAME website and would you believe it back in stock. My order was placed before I had a chance to shout "oh my god" and luck would have it two hours later they sold out again.

Main Box

So that's my little back story to it and here it is, one thing I love about Blizzard is they do not cheap out on their games. It's just slightly taller than A4 and a lot wider, weigh's quite a bit too thanks to the art book inside. I love the artwork around the edges and the game logo in the middle, the box is made of high quality card and you can tell it's made to last.

Inside

The whole top section comes off and you get this lovely view on the left. From what I can gather so far that picture is a Diablo skull, one of the main demons which I'm looking forward to fighting. Anyway everything is packed neatly in the box and there is a plastic holder at the bottom of the box which keeps everything in place.

USB and Holder
How amazing is the USB with it's holder above, the box is decorated like a small chest and the card is high quality again. Basically the crystal on the left is the USB and it also contains the full game for Diablo 2 and the expansion as well for the game, both of those cost around £15 together. I love the detail gone into the Diablo skull holder though and soon as my desk is tidy (estimated date 12/12/3012) it can sit next to my Halo 3 helmet.

Art Book

Next up is the very impressive hardback art book which sorry to say folks I have not opened yet! trying to keep it safe in its wrapper for the time being. I will open it soon I promise and will update this post with some pictures; also I will do a general post to say when it's happened so you won't miss out. Reason why I haven't opened? Well room is a tip right now and when I open it I want to store it on my book shelf which currently as no space.

Judging just by the cover it's going to be awesome, I love the fact it's not a flimsy paperback book like most games give with 10 pages of small art prints.

There is also two dvd cases which I did not bother taking a picture of, did not think you would be interested in seeing the normal game case and making of dvd case. If you are I can update the post later with a picture but yeah there is a documentary dvd showing how they made the game, which I might actually watch this time around. Normally I do not bother on that type of stuff but the game is amazing so it would be interesting to see how it was done. Also I have got some codes for World of Warcraft guest passes and the code for the collector edition bonus items. This will give me the angel wings in the game, a witch doctor pet for World of Warcraft and some Diablo theme decal for Starcraft 2. I've not entered anything yet but again when I do I will add some screenshots below for your viewing pleasure.

Soundtrack

So final picture is the soundtrack which I am a little disappointed about, basically the sleeve is one of those fold out cardboard ones which I always find gets damaged quite easy. Not sure why they did not put it in a CD case, like how they did with the World of Warcraft ones. Again sorry to say it's not opened, I really should had thought this ahead but it's my first unboxing and I do have work in a bit so forgive me this time.

So overall I'm a fan! very impressed with what Blizzard as done and it makes me wonder when all this costs only £69.99 yet you got companies like say Square Enix who bring out their limited edition which is basically a flimsy outer cardboard box that olds four postcards and a sticker for the same price (FFXIII and FFXIII-2). So great value for money in my books and no regrets here! What do you guys think about it? Cool looking? Not your thing?

Next week I will be doing another unboxing involving the Uncharted 3 Explorer's Edition, hopefully this will be a weekly thing as I go through my collection. Give a shout with your thoughts about this post too, anything I could had done better like maybe open everything in advance sorry!.
